"Come on, Father, you should be more forgiving. This boy can't keep anything more complicated than one thought rattling in his head," Caleb said, sounding bored, but there was a nasty glint in his eyes as he leaned over Carlo's cubicle. An idle hand reached down and flicked at the succulent on display.

Carlo was immediately on edge. That little plant was a gift from Amelia, who hoped for his career to flourish like the plant. Caleb tugged viciously at a leaf, before picking it up in his large hands.

"Hey, put it back! It's not yours!" Carlo exclaimed, trying to snatch it back, but Caleb moved away in time. He tossed the little plant up and down in his hands.
