Yuzuru had arrived in Toronto just a day before going back to his old rink.
It had been three whole years since he had been there the last time before moving to Japan. After retiring from competitions, he wanted to say goodbye to the place that had once been his home.
Adjusting to the timezone wasn't even that hard given that he had been training at night in the past years. It was the only time he could find available at his home rink.
The visit to Toronto had been planned for a while, probably a whole year but the previous months had been busier than expected.
Yuzuru had wanted to do a solo ice show, but in the midst of planning one that was already plenty of work, he was invited to perform at the Tokyo Dome mere months after and things just turned even worse than expected.
Not that he made his life any easier, booking a third show to honor the Earthquake birthday just two weeks after the huge Tokyo show.
Between his usual practice time to organizing the shows and even TV appearances, he rarely had any time left now.
That was the reason as to why he was only at his old training facility after almost a year had passed.
As soon as he entered the familiar halls he felt at home. The best and worse memories of the past years all had a connection to this place.
Only Brian and Tracy knew of his visit so it was not surprising to hear all sorts of gasps and he passed by people and greeted them with his skating bag just like he did so many times in the past.
It didn't even take too long before groups of skaters formed around him.
After his second Olympic win, it was very rare that he interacted with the younger students of the TCC due to schedule so this truly gave him an opportunity to meet the kids and give them some encouraging words if he could.
More than anything, he knew how speaking to your idols can help your journey.
After about an hour of taking pictures and exchanging words, there was still a decent group of kids that were still awaiting for their turn.
Yuzuru misjudged how popular he was among them.
But above all, he loves the opportunity to be with these kids and teenagers that still loved the sport, that hadn't experienced how cruel it could be yet.
It made him go back and think of when he was their age and going through the same things.
His concentration was broken by an exclamation of one of the kids.
"Mommy!"
Yuzuru couldn't help but smile, he had been like that once, loving every possible chance to have his mom watching him.
His eyes followed the sound and met with the woman that the sound was directed to.
And boy, was he screwed.
From the very first moment his eyes saw her figure, even on the distance he could tell just how beautiful she was.
The woman was short, even in her heels, but looked serious and intimidating in the black suit she wore. The long black hair was styled in waves and he couldn't avoid doing a once over of that beautiful curvy body.
Everything about her screamed sophistication, dressed and styled impeccably. Just the way she dressed herself was more than enough to understand that she probably had an important job.
And yet, she looked young, maybe even around his age.
Yuzuru shook his head slightly, as if trying to take the woman off his mind. He wasn't usually one to be this affected by beautiful women. He dated every once in a while to reassure his mother's heart, but it was never anything serious. The focus had always been his skating and it's safe to say that he had never looked at a woman the way he was looking at her right now.
What was it about her?
Whatever it was, Yuzu knew he should take it off his mind, after all, he was only in Canada for a few days.
Not only that, he heard the boy call her Mother, which meant that she probably had someone waiting for her at home.
Even if he tried his absolute best to ignore her presence, the woman in black was constantly on his mind as he took pictures with the kids, not at all helped by the loud boy that was definitely excited.
"Yuzuru is here! Can you believe it? I can't wait to take a picture with him."
Yuzuru really tried to ignore it, but he couldn't help but look in their direction once again, finding the woman confused. She probably had no idea why everyone was this excited and somehow, that stirred something in him.
He couldn't quite understand what she asked the boy but he heard the loud reply back that made him smile even further.
"Yes! Yuzuru Hanyu, Mom! He's like the best ever!"
The kid was absolutely adorable and before he knew it, Yuzuru was skating in their direction absentmindly.
There wasn't any plan in his mind, he didn't even know why he was skating in their direction. What Yuzu knew was that something drew him to her.
Backing away now was not an option, not when her eyes were on him, ever so curious. And they were as beautiful as every other part of her.
He bowed politely and greated the kid, asking for his name in an attempt to look nice. Well, Yuzu was always nice, but he wanted to be particularly nice today asking for her name with a huge smile.
Staring at her for a few seconds was inevitable, red reaching her cheeks in result.
Oh, she was beautiful, utterly gorgeous, especially like this, blushing cutely in front of his eyes, making him wonder just how far the red color reached.
Yuzuru, you are one doomed man.
