"Although it won't last long, I can still suppress an Ancient God for a while. However, I can't guarantee killing one!"
Lynn wasn't entirely being modest. If he went all out, he could even confront an Outer God head-on, but the cost would be too great and not worth it from any angle.
Under normal conditions, Lynn could exert power equivalent to a Dual Sequence True God. While suppressing an Ancient God is straightforward for a Dual Sequence True God, killing one is much harder.
Ancient Gods, despite their madness compared to proper Sequence 0, lack one or two Sequence 1 Characteristics of the main pathway. However, like the Annihilation Demonic Wolf possessing the uniqueness of both the Fool Pathway and the Darkness Pathway, these Ancient Gods are often stronger than typical Sequence 0s.
Otherwise, why would the Ancient Sun God, who also has the power of a Dual Sequence True God, plot so carefully? These Ancient Gods are genuinely formidable. In a one-on-one fight, the Ancient Sun God has an advantage, but in a one-on-two, even the Ancient Sun God would struggle without relying on the Chaos Sea.
Even Lynn finds it challenging to kill an Ancient God without paying a high price.
However, difficult doesn't mean impossible. If the opportunity arises, Lynn could indeed kill an Ancient God.
Lynn's words made the meeting room fall silent. Besides the Ancient Sun God, who had anticipated this, and Medici, who had seen Lynn in action, everyone else, including Sasrir, showed a hint of surprise.
Leodero, who was straightforward, couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you a Sequence Two Sage?"
How could a Sage suppress an Ancient God?
Though the others didn't voice their questions, they all looked at Lynn with curiosity and confusion.
Facing everyone's gaze, Lynn remained calm, slowly sipping his tea before smiling and saying, "I am indeed a Sequence 2 Sage, but that doesn't stop me from briefly exerting Sequence 0 combat power!"
Leodero: ...
Aucuses: ...
Do you hear yourself? Does that even make sense?
Ouroboros blinked, looking at Lynn, seemingly wanting to say something but eventually staying silent.
Sasrir, watching Lynn sip tea elegantly, seemed to recall something and frowned, "You can't casually use Sequence 0 abilities, right?"
Sasrir remembered the battle in the Land of the Demonic Wolf, where Lynn only used Sequence 2 abilities, even in danger.
Sasrir knew Lynn well and was aware he wasn't one to hide his abilities. Instead, Lynn was more uninhibited. If he could freely use Sequence 0 abilities, he wouldn't have refrained until now.
"Exactly, which is why I said it's not lasting!" Lynn nodded. He had no intention of hiding this, as it would be troublesome if the Ancient Sun God counted on him as a regular combatant. Even borrowing Sequence 0 abilities too often would affect Lynn, making him more like his true self.
Lynn's expression then turned serious as he looked at the Ancient Sun God, "I can indeed use that power when necessary, to suppress or even kill an Ancient God, but it comes at a cost..."
Lynn paused before continuing, "You should have sensed its presence, right?"
If it wasn't clear initially, Lynn was now certain the ancient Sun God had seen something in him, perhaps a shadow of his true self.
"I did sense that presence," the ancient Sun God admitted. Though unclear about the exact nature of the entity connected to Lynn, he felt its terror, which explained his special treatment of Lynn.
"Then I'll be straightforward..." Lynn put down his teacup, looking into the ancient Sun God's light golden eyes, "I can use some over-the-top abilities, but the more I use them, the closer I get to that being. In simpler terms, it will gradually awaken within me."
Lynn didn't mind being this frank. It was similar to the script he had given the Evernight Goddess and others: the primordial being emerging within him.
The ancient Sun God's eyes narrowed but didn't show much surprise, indicating he had anticipated this possibility.
Medici frowned, his tone sarcastic yet concerned, "Then why use that power? Do you want to die?"
Medici had seen Lynn use that power and knew Lynn's words were true.
Sasrir, frowning with concern, asked, "Is there anything we can do to help?"
Ouroboros also looked worried, though he stayed silent.
Leodero and Aucuses exchanged glances. If they had envied Lynn's power earlier, now they didn't envy it at all.
The idea of something awakening within wasn't unfamiliar to angels, making them acutely aware of its terror.
"Don't worry, I know my limits. I don't want to be replaced by another being, especially one that doesn't care about humanity or this world."
Lynn sighed. Although he didn't particularly care about humanity, he did care about his friends and family in this world and didn't want it destroyed.
"So..." Lynn looked at the Ancient Sun God, "I can be a secret weapon, an insurance, and act in critical moments. But if you want to count on me as regular combat strength, that's not possible."
"I understand," the Ancient Sun God nodded thoughtfully, his light golden eyes focused on Lynn, then solemnly said, "Thank you for choosing humanity."
"No need to thank me. If anyone, thank those who guided me from chaos to order..." Lynn waved, nodding towards Sasrir, "For example, Sasrir is one of them. If you really want to thank me, how about giving him some more time off?..."
Once again, the meeting room fell silent.
Sasrir looked both awkward and amused, glancing between Lynn and the Ancient Sun God, then said, "Though I am willing to work for the divine kingdom, even I feel a bit tired after three years of continuous work..."
