"Of course you'll be there, Mommy. The school has arranged a special seating area for all the parents, so you'll be able to see everything from there."

"I'm sorry, sweetheart, but I might not be able to come to your school tomorrow."

"What do you mean, Mommy?" Eleanor's thin brow furrowed in concern. "You must come. All the other parents will be there."

With an apologetic smile, Kathleen explained, "I fear there's a vital operation I need to be part of scheduled for tomorrow. It will take quite some time, and the time for the operation coincides with your sports event, making it difficult for me to attend," she explained patiently.
