Chapter 34: Two Sages and Uninvited Guests

"Vale. You become a Sage. A new Sage since Sun Wukong."

I look at her in shock before saying.

"What do you mean by that? What does this Sage job entail?"

Yasaka looks at me and says,

"Sage's job is to make sure the world is happy."

"How the hell do I do that?"

"Just like what you have done. Sage is someone who has a pure mind and pure intention. Sun Wukong is the last sage, but it changes when his status changes to that of Buddha. His ascension discards his duty as a sage."

"Why he cannot be a Sage?"

"To be a Buddha, you need to discard your earthly bond. Without this bond, he cannot be a Sage."

I release a sigh and look at her with a smile.

"Do I get paid for this job?"

I said jokingly.

"Yes."

"What?"

My expression turns to shock when I hear that.

"What? Did you think that title came without any compensation, Vale? As a Sage, no disease shall get near you. The area around you shall be fertile and full of life. All animals in this world shall not attack you without provocation. Lastly, you can now teach someone how to be a Senjutsu User. They cannot control natural energy and can create a devastating attack with it, but their bodies will be powerful. There is a reason why Sun Wukong's monkey army is known throughout China. They are powerful even though they are normal monkeys."

That is a great set of powers. I look at Yasaka and say.

"Do you want to become a Sage as well, Yasaka?"

"Eh? Can I? It is my dream to become one."

"Of course. Close your eyes, activate your Sky Flame, and start to absorb the Natural Energy."

I can see the Sky Flame appear on her forehead, and I stand behind her. I stand behind her to ensure she does not absorb any tainted natural energy.

"Absorb the natural energy, but instead of taking them for yourself, let your Sky Flame absorb them."

She immediately knows what I mean and does what I do with natural energy.

"Good. Make sure you are careful not to let any tainted natural energy be left in your body. That's right, just like that. Careful now. Good job. Now, expel the pure natural energy. Good. Now, here it comes."

Just like a wounded animal who looks for a savior, it latches to anyone who is willing to help it. I flare my sky flame and help Yasaka as she gets more natural energy than I got before. My Sky Flame catches all the natural energy that passes her flame and purifies them.

It lasts for seven minutes before the world stops giving her natural energy. I can hear her gasp and say.

"That was a rush."

I look at her with a smile and say.

"Congratulations. How is it?"

"I can feel it. I can feel the approval of the world, and I can already sense the connection."

"Connection?"

"Ah, you are a human and not youkai. You will know what I am talking about when you reach a certain threshold of Senjutsu."

"I see."

Before I can ask more, I can see the elder running toward us.

"I leave you all in less than an hour, and you two have already become sages! What the fuck is happening in this world?!"

Yasaka and I look at each other for a second before releasing a laugh. I shake my head and look at the elder, and say.

"Sorry about that, Elder. It looks like I will also be in your care for some Senjutsu training."

"What? You are a sage, boy! I don't think I can train you."

"I might be a sage, but I am a new user of Senjutsu. I don't think I have enough experience to deserve the title. My job is still a sage, but the title is not something I deserve."

"And you are right. Fine. However, I will teach you after I teach her." She looks at Aria and continues, "The basics. For now, I will give you a book you can read and train."

I smile at her and say.

"Thank you, Elder."

"Is that the place?"

A young man with long blond hair and blood-red eyes looks at the city in the distance. This is Dominik, the first son of Lord Tepes. The town is surrounded by forest and sits not too far away from the river. It is located outside of Bucharest but still in Ilfov County.

"Yes, my lord. That is the place. As you can see, there is a strange barrier around that city. We did not want to be noticed and decided not to get too close to the barrier before we were ready to attack them or at least know what kind of barrier was around that place."

Dominik nods his head and says.

"Good work and you made the correct decision. We still need time to prepare before we can attack them. Is there anything else I need to know?"

"I don't know if this is true or not, but some of our slaves managed to hear something about an alliance between Youkai and the Millefiore Family."

He frowns at those words and says.

"The Youkai? Which one?"

"We did not know, my lord. We also cannot confirm this information either. We did not want them to notice us and start moving. As you said earlier, we are not ready for them to start hunting."

"But we also cannot ignore the information regarding their alliance. We did not want Youkai to get involved in our matter. It will be a messy thing that the whores from the Carmilla Faction will exploit and grab more territory."

Since the Mellifiore Family rose into a proper faction, the Carmilla Faction has been pushing for new territory and irritates Lord Tepes.

"Should we dig deeper, my lord?"

Dominik thinks for a few seconds before saying.

"Yes. However, make sure to do it carefully. Extra this time."

"Of course, my lord."

He nods and looks to the sky.

"Let's return to the base. The sun is about to rise."
