Upon hearing that gloomy voice, I quickly looked around, trying to spot the old woman's location. After scanning the area, I saw her figure next to the driver's car. She was still dressed the same as before, head bowed, but her body was now facing the driver, with her hand resting on the edge of the sedan's window.
The driver had just climbed into his car and hadn't had time to start it yet. He was already annoyed by the previous incident, and now another beggar was asking him for the time. What irritated him most was how uncomfortable the voice sounded.
"Get lost! You damn beggar, do you want to block my way? Do you believe I'll run you over?" the driver yelled at the old woman, seemingly venting all his previous unpleasantness and even threatening to hit her with his car. I couldn't help but find it amusing—he didn't realize that the old woman was not among the living, but a ghost in search of a scapegoat. If the driver knew this, he would probably be scared witless by now.
