Seth looked at Kevin momentarily, and the man felt these people needed privacy.
"You can talk alone here for as long as you need. I'll wait outside with Aria. When you've decided, I'll help you with missions or anything else." The guild master said before leaving the area of registration.
"Hey, guild master, why are we doing this?" Aria asked quietly, not understanding why she had to leave her post to these people.
Couldn't they just find a room to talk in private?
"Shut up, Aria. These people aren't normal. Let them do what they want!" He said quietly, smiling on his way out of the room.
Unlike her, he could sense that these people were powerful. It would be better if they didn't make things difficult for these people!
After they left the 20 survivors of the Misty Woods Tribe alone, Seth said. "We have two options. Stay in this city for a while and try to learn some of what the locals know, or continue our journey as soon as we discover a place stronger than this one." He said before explaining his preference. "Honestly, I think it would be good if we stay here for a while. We can do some missions and collect coins and information about this place.
We just discovered many things with Kevin, but we still don't understand many of them. Why continue traveling in such a hurry if we can't understand a simple place like this? What will happen when we get to a really important place?
I prefer to increase the difficulty of our mission gradually."
Seth was powerful, with the greatest potential of all the people of the Giant Island. But he wasn't arrogant and knew when to lower his spirits.
Typically, Seth spent his free time on Giant Island hunting animals, often weaker than himself, whose behavior fascinated him. He took pleasure in understanding the behavior of his prey and preferred to act when he was sure he wouldn't lose anything.
Outside of combat, he rarely attacked without thinking about what lay ahead!
Since he didn't even know how to determine the power level of the people in this place or how to quantify such a thing without the help of artifacts like the one in this room, he didn't think it was worth continuing this journey.
If they could determine other people's levels and strengths, they would more or less know the strength level of their enemies and how best to find them.
Since the First Elder had sent them on this journey, Seth preferred not to act without thinking. He would plan every step of this journey, and he had no intention of dying to avenge his people.
Elder Jothan understood Seth's motives. "It makes sense... But we won't find our enemies here."
"I think we should leave," Moses said. "As Jothan said, we will not find our enemies here. Everyone here has seen how their machine can't even measure our proper level.
I also want to know more about why the elders have kept so much of this world from us."
Silence fell in the room as everyone agreed or disagreed with Moses in their own way.
"It's not that simple, Elder Snyder," Seth said, looking into Moses' eyes. "I'm sure our ancestors had their reasons. The fact is, we have an enemy capable of destroying the village, an enemy that even frightened the First Elder.
Have you forgotten who the First Elder was? Or what he was capable of?"
Moses made an ugly face when he heard Seth's words, but he couldn't argue with them. Elijah Clarkson was a monster capable of stopping time, seeing the future, and manipulating space in ways that not even the strongest of this group fully understood.
Seth was the most talented to appear on the Giant Island in countless generations and was even capable of using Elijah's ability, Time. But even he was nowhere near to what the First Elder was capable of.
Seth could even resist Elijah's ability to hold a dialogue with him while the First Elder stopped time. But the difference between the two was so great that the First Elder had forced him to return to where he had left off without giving him a chance to do anything else.
No one there knew if Seth would be able to overtake Elijah with Time in the future, but they were sure that even he couldn't compare to the First Elder at present.
But he was the strongest of the group... If he was no match for the person who decided to sacrifice himself in the village, how would they fare against these unknown opponents?
Facing them blindly would be foolish!
Dax then said in support of Seth's opinion. "Let's stay in this city for a while. Whether we like it or not, we need resources to avoid attracting unnecessary attention in stronger places.
Understanding a little common sense in this unknown world would also be good. I don't know if you've noticed, but people look at us like we're stupid... I don't like that."
"Hmm, that's true. If we're going to look stupid or suspicious, we'd better do it to harmless people, like the people in this city." Emery agreed.
Atlas then asked. "So how do we do it? Are we just going to hang out with these people and ask them what they know, like we did in the village of Ihk?"
"No," Seth replied. "What we did in that village was necessary for us to learn the language and the basics of this world. We had to do it one way or another. But now we have the power of choice, and we can't be naive.
Let's learn without asking from now on. I think if the group splits up to do missions in this guild, we'll be able to learn a lot quickly by combining our experiences.
When we know enough, have coins, and don't seem so ignorant, we'll search for more powerful places to find relevant information about our enemies."
No one disagreed with Seth's words and agreed to follow his orders.
They left the room, their responsibilities already divided.
Some saw Kevin and Aria outside the room but didn't stop to talk to them. These people simply went on their way to learn about Lastwood for themselves.
Only a small group stayed with Seth as he looked at the man behind the guild.
Seth smiled and asked. "So, what kind of missions do the Mystic Widowmakers have in store? Some of us want to look into local activities and collect some coins."
Hearing this, Kevin smiled with satisfaction, for the better the results of his guild's mercenaries, the better it would be for him.
Each guild in cities like Lastwood had a lot of freedom to make its own rules, the type of missions it would accept, and the restrictions on new members. However, there were stronger guilds that "took in" weaker ones. These stronger groups supported the weaker ones but also received very talented members from those branches.
Most people in a city with the power of Lastwood didn't have much potential and would probably live and work in similar places all their lives. But here and there, there would be cases of people outside the curve.
It was beneficial for the smaller and larger guilds to maintain these relationships.
When a guild acquired new talent, not only did it improve its local results and attract more customers, but the guild leader could receive large rewards from their strongest supporters by referring these organizations to their talented guild members.
With this in mind, Kevin was delighted to meet these strange people!
"Haha, this way. I'll show you."
