"You'll see for yourself," Mrs Bert said, leaving a lot of question marks on all their faces.

She started placing the remaining dishes Grace had packed for them on the tray and went to the refrigerator to get the parfait. To the astonishment of the three ladies, she carried everything out of the kitchen without uttering a word.

Hearing the kitchen door creak open, Jace sat up, putting on a nonchalant expression as if his eyes had not been trained on the kitchen door all this while.

After serving the food, she turned back to leave.

Jace restrained himself from delving straight into the beckoning dishes as he had something else to settle. "Hold on, Mrs Bert."
