Escape - Part 1

July 14th 1988 - Earth

Jiayings Village

As David awoke to the sight of a stranger clad in tactical gear looming over him, a sense of disorientation washed over him. 'First reincarnation, then my new home was attacked, and now military types are in my room... Maybe this is hell,' he mused inwardly, the weight of the surreal situation bearing down upon him. 'Which would suck because I'm pretty sure I can't be lazy in hell.'

Caught in the midst of inner turmoil, the sheer intensity of his thoughts threatened to overwhelm him, his infant brain struggling to process the whirlwind of emotions coursing through his mind. With every fibre of his being, he fought against the urge to sleep, a temporary unwelcome break from the overwhelming confusion that gripped him.

As David fell into his forced slumber, two more agents entered the room, their presence adding to the already tense atmosphere. Meanwhile, Agent Bond wasted no time in issuing orders to his subordinates, his voice cutting through the chaos with authoritative precision.

"Smith, Hart, you guys are going to take a child each and escape in different directions while I attempt to rescue the woman in the next building," Bond's voice rang out with unwavering determination. His orders left little room for argument, the urgency of the situation demanding swift action.

"Nah, what the hell, Bond? Shouldn't we escape together?" Hart interjected, voicing the concerns that lingered in the minds of all present.

"Whatever can cause this much death isn't worth losing all of us," Bond's voice held a note of grim resolve. "Hart, you take the girl in the pink to the extraction point closer to the city. There are multiple agents there. Smith, take the boy in blue towards Tibet. There's a secret SHIELD base there you can use to call for another extraction. Hopefully, I'll make it to either of you with the woman, but don't wait up. Prioritise these children. Judging by the state of this village, they are most likely our 0-8-4."

The weight of Bond's words hung heavy in the air, a stark reminder of the gravity of their mission. As Smith prepared to comply with Bond's orders, a sense of dread gnawed at his insides. "Shit, shit, shit! What kind of first mission is this?" he muttered under his breath, his hands trembling slightly as he lifted the child in his arms, steeling himself for the perilous journey ahead. With a silent nod to his teammates, Smith awaited the signal to commence their escape.

As soon as Bond gave the signal, Smith and Hart sprang into action, dashing out of the building with the children in tow. Each agent embarked on their respective escape routes, their hearts heavy with the weight of their mission and the uncertainty that lay ahead. Hart utilised the armoured vehicle they arrived in, while Smith resorted to hotwiring a nearby car on the outskirts of the village. They proceeded to follow Bond's meticulously crafted escape plan, praying for the safety of their superior officer as they raced against time.

Meanwhile, Bond approached the back entrance of the building with calculated precision, his senses on high alert. He waited patiently, until he heard the synchronised sounds of two cars starting up in the distance, signalling his cue to breach the building. With swift and decisive movements, he picked the lock and infiltrated the premises, his sole guide being the anguished screams that echoed through the corridors.

As he navigated the bloody halls, Bond braced himself for potential resistance, tempering his resolve for the confrontation that lay ahead. However, to his surprise, the path to the source of the screams was eerily devoid of any opposition, the silence punctuated only by the hollow echoes of his footsteps.

Finally reaching his destination, Bond burst into the room with the force of a storm, his assault rifle trained on the figure at the centre of the chaos. "Freeze, step away from the woman!" he commanded, his voice cutting through the tension like a knife.

Calvin, startled by the sudden intrusion, turned to face Bond with a mixture of shock and defiance. His mind raced with a flurry of emotions, his instincts urging him to defend his wife at all costs. However, before he could act, Jiaying's touch on his hand served as a silent reassurance, knowing she had a plan to survive this harrowing situation.

As Bond approached the table, his eyes fell upon the woman lying before him – a haunting figure, bearing the scars of untold suffering etched into her flesh, she looked as if she had been sown together. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on him, his mind racing to comprehend the horrors that had transpired within these walls.

Yet, before he could react, a sudden wave of weakness washed over him, his strength sapped by an unseen force. Panic gripped his heart as he realised the true extent of the danger he faced. With each breath threatening to be his last, Bond issued a warning to his comrades, "be warned the assailants are enhanced individuals… it's been an honour boys," his voice tinged with resignation as the life drained from his body.

In the wake of Bond's demise, Jiaying rose from her sleeping position, looking slightly healthier with an expression devoid of emotion, her thoughts consumed by a singular purpose. "Where are my children?" she murmured, her voice a whisper in the darkness.
