-Chapter 63-

-15th day of the 3rd moon of the year 299 AC-

-Euron Greyjoy-

"Hahaha...hahaha look at those beautiful teats," said one of my men, grabbing one of the girls we had captured on a slaver's ship.

I was about to seize the slave when suddenly a hawk swooped down on me, I frowned, and it stopped a few meters from me.

Something was odd in its gaze; it was as if it knew who I was and had come here with the sole purpose of observing me. The bird lifted its leg, and then I saw a message attached to it.

I untied the message and read what was written:

Captain Euron Greyjoy

I will wait for you in the Smoky Rock tavern in Volantis to discuss if you are interested in the Iron Islands you will come alone in a week.

Connor

Master Assassin of King Aegon VI

I raised an eyebrow at the invitation from this unknown buffoon and tore up the letter from this fool who thought he was, he might have been in the service of the bastard Targaryen, but I was not.

As soon as I tore up the letter, the bird quickly flew away, and then I said, "Come on, guys, today we celebrate."

We continued to celebrate our successful raid, and I fell asleep once I finished drinking a beverage.

I found myself in an unknown and dark space, I felt water engulf me, but I didn't feel the need to breathe at all; I was the Drowned God himself.

As I explored my domain, I felt the urge to try to strike a hawk flying just above the sea; I stretched one of my many gigantic tentacles and caught the hawk.

Once captured, I drowned it, I feasted on its flesh, but before I could fully enjoy its meat, a green dragon with a bronze hue swooped down on me and unleashed green fire that burned me.

The pain was excruciating, and it gnawed at me bit by bit until I completely died.

I woke up sweating, completely shocked by this surreal dream, and I realized it was the effects of the shade-of-the-evening warning me of the future. I had had my share of small predictions in my dreams and hallucinations after starting to consume shade-of-the-evening, but this time it was the most clear and explicit dream I had received.

'Maybe I should meet this so-called Master Assassin.'

-POV Connor-

"I was surprised to see how quickly you made the journey here given what you thought of my invitation."

"How could you know what I was thinking when you were hundreds of kilometers away from my crew?"

I smiled and did not answer; I simply looked at the man in front of me who seemed much more intelligent than I could have imagined of an Ironborn.

"So, what is your bastard king's offer?" he said, grabbing a mug of beer.

I frowned and said, ignoring the unnecessary insult, "My king wants 3 things from you."

"My loyalty first, I assume," he said with an arrogant smile.

I mockingly smiled and said, "The loyalty of an Ironborn, that's a good joke."

His smile gradually reduced, and I took the opportunity to take the upper hand in our conversation: "All the king wants is the Valyrian steel you found, the dragon egg, and the dragon horn."

"I don't have..."

I raised my hand and said, "Don't even try to prevaricate, our intelligence network surpasses all other networks in the world, and we know for sure that you have in your possession all the items I just mentioned."

"And if that was the case, what would you give me in exchange? The Iron Islands?" he said in a sarcastic tone.

I smiled and then said, "You talk about the Iron Islands as if they were a distant dream."

"Theon, Asha, and Victarion are all in the line of succession before me, if the war had continued perhaps I would still have hope but now the Iron Islands are completely lost to me."

"You shouldn't, the king believes you could very well become the Next Lord of the Iron Islands and even grant you the title of Guardian of the Sunset Sea."

"How?" he said, frowning.

"Here is a letter the king has passed on to me for your attention in which he explains in detail all the benefits you could have if you respond affirmatively to his offer."

"Only if I have in my possession objects that I do not," he said, pretending to get up.

I smiled and then said, "I did not give you permission to stand up."

He smiled and stood up anyway and said, "Your king will not make me his pet simply by promising something he does not have, especially since I myself do not have what your master wants."

I smiled and as he turned to leave, his steps froze because all the men still busy laughing, talking, and celebrating all stood up and pulled out daggers, tacitly preventing Euron from leaving the tavern.

I heard him laugh and then he said, "I must admit, I did not think you would make me a prisoner, but even without this, you will not be able to take what I do not possess."

I nodded and said, standing up as well, "Indeed, you are right I cannot take what you do not have in your possession, but the dragon egg, the Valyrian steel armor, and the Dragonbinder horn you have, and now you have lost it as well as the only and unique possibility of becoming one day Lord of the Iron Islands."

I looked at the innkeeper and said, "Release him at dawn, not before, then follow the plan, you know the evacuation plan, nothing must be left behind."

Everyone nodded, and then I left, making my way back to my ship with a small victorious smile, luring the tiger away from its den to steal was my plan, but Aegon for some reason unknown to me wanted to win the loyalty of Euron Greyjoy.

'It seems that in the end, I was right.'
