A Victim

I knew the man Lilith believed was her father-in-law better than he thought I did. 

How could I not put my resources into the things that mattered, such as looking into her life while she was gone?

Her grandfather and mine were adamant that I didn't stalk her or send people to look into her when she left, so I found a loophole. 

They might have told me not to look into her, but it didn't mean I couldn't look into the people around her. So I looked into the man who took her from me, then the woman who led her to him.

Eventually, I found my way to the man that stood before me, the one who produced that fucking banshee and may have had a hand in my wife's suffering.

"I know you're a busy man, Mr. Harris, and I won't lie to you, I used all my connections just to secure this meeting," he confessed.

I gave him a nod as I tapped my phone, glancing at an image of my wife, brightening up my day instantly.
