Chapter 2408: Mind Assault (Twenty-Six)_1

Under the physical onslaught of the two Batmen, Constantine quickly came to her senses, but just like her male counterparts in other universes, she didn't improve much after becoming alert. The majority of the sanity she regained was spent ogling the male and female Batmen and engaging in some purely artistic appreciation.

It wasn't until Batwoman emphatically hammered the table that Constantine fully woke up, wiping the drool from the corner of her mouth and saying, "Sorry, but your uniforms really are quite... irresistible to both sexes."

"Let's get to the point," Batwoman said, her murderous intent nearly spilling out of her eyes.

"Oh right, Doctor Sophocles, correct? I've heard some rumors about him, but don't really expect him to be just a regular PhD. There's not one simple character in All Souls College," Constantine replied.

"What exactly is that place?"

"Put simply, it's the mystic world's highest research institute. To a layperson, it's akin to an honor's research institute within the best universities, not open to regular students — only long-established and truly skilled scholars are able to join," she explained.

"So what exactly is so special about this mysterious Doctor Sophocles?"

"I'm not entirely sure of the specifics. I don't get along with those pure theorists; you know, I'm more of a maverick." Constantine shrugged her shoulders, lit a cigarette with her head down, and after inhaling a puff of smoke, she remarked somewhat wistfully, "It's been a long time since I've been back to England, so I'm not quite sure of the current situation there, but it's probably falling apart just like this universe is."

The two Batmen exchanged glances, and as Batwoman was about to throw another punch, Batman stopped her and called the bartender hiding behind the counter, saying, "Get her a tequila, on me."

"Hey, handsome, trying to bribe me so soon?" Constantine leaned towards Batman, flashing a big smile and saying, "Don't rush it, we can have a nice chat tonight."

Just as Batwoman was about to roll her eyes, Constantine leaned in her direction and said, "I mean all of us together."

The next second, her head was pressed down on the bar-top. Batwoman said sternly, "Get, to, the, point!"

Rubbing her neck and shaking her slightly sore shoulder, Constantine picked up her cigarette and took another drag, saying, "Alright, I know you must be looking for him for something important, but that place is a bit odd, and not just anyone can get in."

"What's so odd about it?"

"Simply put, it's a time-space rift. The architecture of All Souls College that you see exists in the present, but each room inside is situated in a different era to prevent the loss of precious research materials in any disastrous event of a particular time," she described.

"So how do we find Doctor Sophocles?"

"Normally, if a regular magician wants to access All Souls College to retrieve information, we have to send a letter first. Once granted permission, along with the reply, you'll hear the chimes of the midnight clock at All Souls College, which haven't rung since 1963."

"During this time, if you come to the current Oxford All Souls College, you'll see the room of the person inviting you light up. Enter the main door, walk up the stairs, push open the door, and you'll enter the room you aim to enter," she continued.

"Do you have any friends who could invite us?"

Constantine shook her head and said, "You can only enter the room of the person who invites you, all other rooms are hidden within historical fragments, untouchable."

"You mentioned regular magicians, and you are clearly not one," Batman noted.

"Good eye," Constantine snapped her fingers and said, "Given your situation, the official route would take too long. After all, with British efficiency, you wouldn't receive a reply for at least ten days to half a month."

"Do you have another way?" Batwoman leaned closer to Constantine, her hand resting by her seat, clearly even Batman was adept at certain personal persuasion techniques.

"Of course, we could smuggle through Hell's Border, but you'd better be sure you are there on real business. Although most of the folks at All Souls College are pure theorists, I can't guarantee none of them can fight. And if it comes to that, I won't be helping you," she warned.

The two Batmen looked at each other again and ultimately decided to use Constantine's method. After all, if the issue of mystical contamination wasn't resolved, Altantis would return sooner or later, and the sea-land wars would inevitably erupt.

Constantine opened a teleportation portal, and the trio first arrived at Hell's Border, also known as the Ghost Record Prison. The two Batmen saw Constantine set up a portal and then draw a multitude of Runes, turning this portal into a mystical golden color.

"Hold on to each other tightly once we start, no matter what you see, don't let go. All of it is nothing but historical illusions in time. Don't believe anything you see until your feet touch the ground," she instructed.

The two Batmen nodded solemnly. The moment the three of them stepped into the portal, countless historical fragments flashed before Batman's eyes: ancient orators delivering speeches atop monoliths, Roman warriors with shields repelling beasts, ravens with blood-red eyes flying across the sky, and myriad spaceships, lasers, turrets, and a dense darkness.

When they came to, they found themselves in a room. Constantine was nowhere to be seen, but a man in a black trench coat was taking a nap in an armchair by the fireplace.
