Chapter 2136: Ultimate New World (Fifteen)_1

Bruce had seen Captain America in Battleworld, but this Captain America didn't seem to recognize Batman. Bruce wasn't sure whether he hadn't participated in this game or hadn't encountered Batman in the game.

However, Bruce knew beforehand that Captain America was a public figure in this cosmos, so it wasn't surprising that he recognized him. Bruce's understanding of Captain America was that he was a hero, albeit a bit naive.

Of course, Bruce knew that his perspective was limited to his own cosmos. Not all cosmos had a heavyweight city like Gotham. Perhaps in other cosmos, Captain America truly was a champion of peace and justice.

"Did you save me?"

Captain America shook his head and said, "Not exactly. In reality, you weren't in real danger. I just don't agree with Old Osborn's methods."

"Do you know what they're doing?"

"Absolutely." Captain America sighed, walked over to a chair, sat down, and said, "Performing more human experiments to study a mysterious virus is immoral."

"But before this, they were only selecting potential targets affected throughout California and New York, performing various tests and trials on them."

"Old Osborn has taken a particular interest in you, there must be a reason for it. Would you be willing to tell me?"

Captain America sincerely stayed by his side. The nerves that had been bothering Bruce felt a bit better. He used his arm to prop himself up from the bed, pointed to the coat hanging next to him, and asked, "Could you help me get something?"

When Captain America turned around and saw Bruce's bulging coat pocket, he brought it over. Inside, he found several tubes of energy gel.

"Did they give this to you?" Captain America frowned and asked, "I haven't seen this on the market. This means it's likely untested. Do you really think using this stuff is a good idea?"

Bruce sighed and said, "I feel really hungry, an abnormal kind of hunger that food can't fix. I need more direct energy replenishment. So far, I haven't had any adverse symptoms."

Seeing his insistence, Captain America handed him the energy gel. He inspected the muscles on Bruce's body and carefully watched his movements, slightly frowning.

While squeezing energy gel into his mouth, Bruce mumbled, "What's wrong? Is there a problem with me?"

"No, I've just noticed that you're different from the residents of San Francisco. I just got back from there. A friend of mine who has dealt with the Osborn Group informed me about your situation, so I brought you here."

"Of course, I'm different from them." Finally, Bruce found someone he could confide in. He didn't know what was happening to him. When he was hungry, he wanted to eat like crazy. After eating, he wanted to talk.

"You think I'm one of them? Transformed by some mysterious disease into what I am now? I must tell you, I'm not. These muscles are my own, built by me."

Captain America's gaze fell on Bruce's face. He bowed his head and said, "Of course, I believe you."

"No, you don't. You don't believe that a human being can look like this." Having finished eating the energy gel, Bruce tossed the tube aside, rubbed his face, and said, "It's hard for me to explain why I work on the West Coast but haven't appeared on Hollywood screens despite looking like this."

Captain America tilted his head slightly, admitting his suspicion. Bruce took a deep breath and said, "If you don't believe me, let's have a go. Then you'll see that I'm not like those feeble fools."

Captain America rose from his chair but didn't strike a warm-up pose. He stood quietly, waiting for Bruce.

Once the feeling of power filled him again, Bruce stood up, stretched his wrists and neck. If there was anything he was proficient at, it was fighting.

Captain America lowered his center of gravity, raised his arms, and assumed a defensive position. Bruce took a similar stance but chose a more secure wrestling attack.

He had barely taken his first step when he felt something different. The scenery in his field of vision was receding too quickly. He couldn't pull back in time.

Bang!

He sent Captain America flying into the opposite wall, his face in disbelief, wincing in pain.

Bruce was startled as well. He knew his strength had increased, but he hadn't thought it would rise to this level. He knew Captain America was a genetically modified person. He wouldn't be taken down so easily.

Suddenly, Bruce's nerves started jumping again. This time, however, it was more than just noise. His body had moved into a dodge to the right before his brain had even processed it.

Captain America lunged at thin air, then threw another punch, which Bruce dodged by bending his waist. He could see the dust flying through the air.

"Stop!" Bruce raised his hands and said, "Something's not right."

Captain America pulled back his fist, nodded, and said, "Indeed, something isn't right. Are you a mutant?"

"The Osborn Group says I'm not." Bruce definitely knew he wasn't. He had met mutants before, and they had told him the difference between them and normal people was their genes. He couldn't have mutant genes.
