Vitality Drain

"Hide behind the tree." Yi Dongmu said in a hurry, he turned back to look at the spirit approaching. A fat squire spirit with a pig head, a boot licker for the knight spirit.

"What was the commotion about?" The pig spirit asked with a snort, causing Yi Dongmu to scrunch his face in disgust just for a moment. Then he smiled and responded,

"What commotion?"

"Don't play games with me, or do you think I don't have eyes!" The pig spirit squealed, pushing Yi Dongmu aside and going round the tree. Unbeknownst to him, Yi Dongmu had planned to take his life once he spotted Bian.

The pig spirit came back to Yi Dongmu clearly frustrated, he huffed and puffed before walking away angrily.

"Did he not spot that fellow?" Yi Dongmu went round the tree, unable to find Bian.

"Up here" Bian called out for him, from the top of the tree, hidden among it's bushy leaves. Using ghost haunt, Bian quickly came down from the tree without causing any commotion.

"That spirit was a squire right?" He asked Yi Dongmu for confirmation. The levels of spirit corresponded to the strength of creatures. Squire, Knight, Aristocrat, Royal and King/Queen were equivalent to ordinary, primitive, mutant, sacred-blood and super creatures respectively.

Although Bian's appearance in the sanctuary was strange, it was quite clear that he was a human, one who had not been enslaved by the Knight spirit. Yi Dongmu was finally sure the Heaven's were with him, with Bian's help he would definitely be able to assassinate the knight spirit.

...

"What about the two other Knight Spirits in the shelters not far from here, once we kill the one here, they would also be alerted" Bian said, the shelter they were currently in, Hope shelter, was a major trade zone between two other shelters not situated too far from here.

If they killed the knight spirit here, it would alert the other two knight spirits. With Hope Shelter in between Love and Faith shelter, they would be flanked from both sides in a pincer attack. There would be nowhere to run.

"We don't have to attack now. The tree before you is a primitive geno armament tree, they take ten years to mature. This one was planted by the Knight spirit nine and a half years back. After six more months, once the swirling daggers are ready, we strike with primitive weapons" Yi Dongmu patted the tree with affection.

Swirling daggers are also called Kris, they were very effective for stabbing and would be a great boon in the hands of someone like Yi Dongmu. After telling him a bit more, Yi Dongmu went into the forest to hunt some ordinary creatures for the geno tree.

Since Hope shelter was used as a trade center, all the dangerous beasts had long been killed or driven away, leaving only ordinary creatures and a few primitive creatures scattered about.

Soon he returned with a rabbit as big as a dog, he knelt in front of the tree before slicing its neck with a one-edged dagger.. He held it down against its struggle, allowing the blood to flow on the soil where the tree was planted.

"I need your help with my plan, but I have to test your strength first" Yi Dongmu said, while 'watering' the soil. Suddenly, he appeared beside Bian like a ghost the dagger heading straight for his throat.

'Such a nice person' Bian thought so when he saw Yi Dongmu using the blunt edge of the dagger, he stretched his hand catching the blade in his hands. Yi Dongmu, had his eyes opened as wide as saucers, Bian held unto the dagger like a vice grip.

"This is good" He suddenly started laughing, then he stood up and pointed to the rabbit. "I have to go now, you can have the rest of the rabbit. Sleep in the forest in the meantime or explore the city, just be careful. You can't stay here any longer, the knight spirit will notice your presence." Yi Dongmu said before leaving abruptly.

Bian held the rabbit by its ears and decided to check out the town first. After carefully maneuvering the shelter, he found the market place. It was quite lively as different spirits went about trading all sorts of items.

It could be said that spirit were the owners of the third sanctuaries with there being around one million surpassers. Of course that was in the past, with the dire status of the alliance, more and more evolvers have chosen to brave the danger and become surpassers.

Bian walked up to a store selling geno seeds, he was intrigued about the diverse geno seeds in the third sanctuary. There were seeds of different types, blooming into pets, armor, weapons, or fruits that unlock gene locks once eaten.

"You have a good eye for business, those are copper-iron armor seeds. They give different armors, after ten years of watering them with the blood of sturdy creatures like the rock turtle." The shop owner, a man with rat-like ears said.

"Oh that sounds nice, but I don't have any money right now. What could I get for this rabbit." Bian asked lifting up the rabbit.

The merchant looked at Bian, the fact that he had a freshly deceased rabbit proved that he was strong enough to venture into the forest alone.

"A vampire rabbit, its just an ordinary creature. How about this, to build some good will. An ordinary geno seed, that only takes a single year to mature. It gives mount creatures called Bone Tamus, huge beasts that can lift over five times their body weight."

"Sure" Bian readily accepted, a dead ordinary rabbit for a geno seed of the same rank. Plus he could see the Bone Tamus all around the market. It was a hippopotamus covered in bone, useful for transporting heavy goods.

"Make sure you come back to this stall, the name is Okka, Okka the merchant." Okka said to Bian as he left.

Bian went into the forest with his next goal in mind. Among the scripts he translated, one mentioned that if humans can gain nutrients without eating future generations would not have stomachs.

Bian didn't agree with this, but there was some truth to it. As long as nutrients could be transferred directly to the blood stream, the person wouldn't get hungry. This was why people could survive for years with only a drip.

The forest had scanty trees, grass everywhere and a lot of shrubs. Bian saw different type of creatures crawling, slithering and flying around. A green snake had been watching him from the shrubs, once his back was turned. it lunged towards him fangs wide open.

Pah!

With a slap the snake collapsed on the ground squirming in pain. Bian walked through a patch of grass taller than himself, finally finding his target. There were two vampire rabbits playing with each other.

He waited for a moment, then dashed forward pinning the two down like a ghost. They started struggling under his vice like grip, but to no avail.

"Well I only need one" Bian released the rabbit in his left palm. It hurriedly scuttered away but didn't leave completely, staying to observe Bian and its friend.

Bian began walking back to the snake he had slapped earlier, it was still on the ground disorientated by the smack it had received.

After Bian evolved to become a surpasser, he underwent some major changes. Firstly, he didn't have jadeskin again. No matter what he tried he couldn't activate it or get a response from it. He even tried practicing it again from memory along with the frost sutra but to no avail.

Jadeskin had been absorbed by the body pillar, permanently changing his skin to look like he was a doll. It made him all the more attractive and mysterious, like the Okka the merchant had seen. Sadly, it also removed all his body hair.

Bian already had a plan for the third sanctuary, which involved the energy flow of the Thorned Menace. This energy flow would make his hairs stand on end, becoming very sharp and sturdy, then they would be able to absorb blood from any creature. Without his body hair though, he had to change his plans.

He placed the fangs of the vampire rabbit on top of the belly of the snake. Following its animalistic instinct, the rabbit bit into the snake sucking its blood. Bian stood by its side, holding down the snake that was trashing about, while seriously observing its energy flow.

Just like Han Sen had made the Coin Geno Art after arriving at the third sanctuary, Bian also planned to make a geno art of his own. After the rabbit had its fill, it removed its fangs from the snake. Bian had already let go of the rabbit, so it hopped back towards its partner.

"I see now!"

Having already unlocked the third gene lock for mental point targeting-- no it should be called three inner cylinders-- Bian had greater mental capacity than an average surpasser. Of course, it also granted other boons like resistance to mind attacks, but that wasn't his main focus right now.

By using the energy flow of the Thorned Menace and Vampire Rabbit, he could create a new art that allowed him to drain blood from a different body part, apart from his hair or teeth.

The energy flow of the Thorned Menace was really important as fleshy creatures like the rabbit had a limit to the amount of blood they could absorb, but not a tree like the Thorned Menace. It could drain one hundred percent of the blood from a target.

"Well you attacked me first so, law of the jungle" Bian said, activating the empirical will, he needed every beast soul he could get.

Using his new hyper geno art, his finger nails extended like claws. Their durability depended on his constitution which was above the snake's. He sank his claws into the slithering beast with ease, draining its blood. Then he activated the blood refine sutra.

The blood refine sutra was a downgraded version of the blood pulse sutra which had less uses than it. The major boon of the blood refine sutra was to assimilate foreign blood as fast as his heart allowed, which was beyond logic for Bian since his heart was his strongest muscle strengthened by the heresy mantra.

[Flesh of Chameleon Viper eaten, one ordinary geno point gained]

[Flesh of Chameleon Viper eaten, one ordinary geno point gained]

[Ordinary creature Chameleon Viper killed. The beast soul has not been acquired. Eat the Chameleon Viper to gain 0 to 4 ordinary geno points randomly]

"It worked" Bian jumped for joy ecstatic, gone were the days were he had to eat mountains of food. He had gained two ordinary geno points from sucking the snake dry. All that was left of it was a husk devoid of any moisture.

"Lets call this move, Vitality Drain"
