Destruction

Alex effortlessly demolished the human defenses and pressed onward, a formidable presence in the skies above Washington.

Witnessing the massive shadow looming, the citizens of the capital were awestruck. "Oh my god! What is that?" They pointed at the colossal silhouette in disbelief.

"It looks like a sword."

"Someone's standing on it."

"He's heading towards the White House!"

The crowd turned their gaze toward the iconic presidential residence.

Indeed, the direction was unmistakably towards the White House.

Alex manipulated the enormous sword, slowly raising it into position.

Hovering in the air, Alex unleashed a magnetic storm. Steel from Washington's buildings was swiftly drawn out, coalescing into a smaller blade that merged seamlessly with the colossal sword behind him. The visible destruction of Washington's infrastructure sent the citizens into panic, fleeing for safety. This was only the beginning.

The colossal sword continued to grow, casting a chilling gleam. Washington's residents stared in horror at the impending catastrophe.

"Alex, stop this madness! Are you out of your mind?!" Charles arrived at Alex's side aboard the X fighter, urgently reaching out to him through their psychic connection.

"I'm fine," Alex responded coldly.

"Please, reconsider! The people of Washington below are innocent! If you proceed, how many innocent lives will be lost? Do you really want to become a butcher?" Charles pleaded, desperate to reason with him.

Alex's expression shifted, but he held firm, his voice cold as he spoke, "I didn't choose to be a butcher, but humans have pushed me too far. All I wanted was a peaceful life, but they want me dead. They've forgotten the fear of what had happened in Cairo twenty years ago. Perhaps Washington will remind them."

His words carried across Washington, stirring anger among its citizens. Voices rose in condemnation of the current president. "Are these fools trying to provoke a catastrophe?"

Charles fell silent, grappling with how to respond. The desire of humans to end Alex's life wasn't unfamiliar, and their reaction wasn't unexpected.

After a moment of silence, Charles gazed down at the furious crowd and implored, "The people of Washington are innocent. They shouldn't suffer. I don't want to become a butcher like you or Apocalypse."

Alex narrowed his eyes at Charles for a moment before replying casually, "Consider this a lesson. Next time, the city won't be spared."

With those words, the colossal sword descending from the sky plunged into the ground, cleaving Washington in two. Downtown was now dominated by a massive steel blade.

The impact shattered buildings across the city, causing widespread destruction. The steel sword created a deep rift through the heart of Washington. Leading to wide spread earthquakes.

Initial reports suggested around 200,000 casualties in the aftermath.

Charles breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, Alex had relented this time. Even though casualties were high, it was a small mercy compared to the complete annihilation of Washington.

Alex stood defiantly in front of the White House, surrounded by nervous soldiers who were clearly shaken by the recent events.

"Let the president come out!" Alex's voice carried a casual tone as he spoke without entering.

"Mr. Alex, perhaps this is all a misunderstanding," one of the senior soldiers attempted to intervene before calling for the president. Moments later, the president emerged with a smile.

"Misunderstanding? I don't see it that way. You agreed to authorize the Sentinel plan, didn't you?" Alex's hand extended, and the president was lifted into the air, held firmly in Alex's grasp. With a cold edge to his voice, Alex addressed the President of the United States directly.

"Alex, calm down. He's the president, you can't…" Charles began, but Alex cut him off sharply.

"Back off! I won't say it again," Alex's voice thundered.

"Hey," Charles sighed helplessly, shook his head, and stepped aside.

It had been Alex's greatest mercy just moments ago. If he continued disregarding right and wrong, even his friends would have to stand against him.

"It's not just you. Anyone who approved the Sentinel plan is implicated. There will be no escape. They will die," Alex's grip tightened. Not just the president and congressmen, but even Nick Fury, the architect behind the plan's resurgence, had to answer for it. It was non-negotiable.

Regardless of who orchestrated it, they all must pay with their lives. There could be no mistakes!

"Stop!" A figure landed directly in front of Alex. After gently setting down the person on her back, she advanced toward Alex. Her focus was on the President of the United States held in Alex's clutches.

"Move aside! Can't you all see right from wrong?" Alex's voice cut through the tense air.

Ready to mete out justice to everyone involved, Alex pondered the mastermind behind it all.

They all had to pay the ultimate price. Wasn't that only fair?

Carol fixed her gaze on Alex and implored, "Stop! You still have a chance to turn back now."

"Turn back?" Alex almost laughed bitterly. After everything he'd endured, now they expected him to turn back and forgive all those bastards.
