Meeting survivors on the road

On Alex's orders, everyone started doing their jobs with diligence.

They didn't dare to disappoint Alex. Disappointing him was like being on death toll already.

In just two hours, the defense line on the front was multiplied under their leadership.

" Master, we're ready to leave, " Cecilia gentle voice was heard by Alex, who was looking around at the situation of the camp.

Once they passed the city premises it should be safe to travel from there.

" Team Leader. Why are you personally waiting for them? " Timothy asked as he threw an unpleasant look at Alex.

" Alex's safety will be personally taken care by me, " Cecilia cast a cold look at Timothy.

The glance simply sent a chill down the man's spine, as he felt that there was something different with that gaze just now.

It was as if Cecilia was looking at a dead man!

Cecilia ignored him and coldly continued adressing him and two team members, " Defense of the camp in my absence will be on you three. Kill any Stage 2 zombie that suddenly appears. "

" Yes. Team Leader! " Timothy saluted with his team members, as he watched Cecilia leave alongside Alex and Madison in their military vehicle.

They wondered what status Alex had, whether he was related to their Team member's son Or something?

They didn't know...

Everyone except them were assigned the tasks to clear another important site, just an hour before.

So, they were the ones who were assigned to strengthen the defense of the camp.

Inside the vehicle...

" We have already secured the parking area in last hour. So, right now everyone should be ready to leave there, " Cecilia informed politely.

Her gaze subservient and loving as she looked at Alex sitting in back seat with Madison.

" Your team has worked hard, " Alex praised.

Cecilia sighed, " I don't want to say, but that Anna and Josephine are also very talented. without them, arranging everything in such a small amount of time would have been impossible."

" There was actually quite a disturbance when everyone in camp was informed about departure, I'm glad they managed everything without bloodshed, " Cecilia said.

There might be some casualties, but not much.

Sure enough once, Alex and others passed the barricaded area they found Anna, Kate, Robin, Rowena, Vienna and Alex's other women there.

Besides them there were almost thousand people here, entering the vehicles.

Most of them were women and there were few children of less than 10 years old.

' She has done good work segregating them, ' Alex thought.

Seeing Anna handle such a headache inducing work so well, he felt a little more liking for her.

Sure enough, as soon as he appeared, Anna came running to him like a puppy.

If she had a tail, it would be swaying here and there asking for headpats and praises.

Once she came near him he could see some beads of sweats on her forehead, which she quickly wiped with her hand holding a tab and pen.

Soon, Alex found himself on the way back to Unison high.

The escapee batch was divided into two groups, leaving the city by two safest deemed routes.

Alex obviously chose the safer one even amongst safest for himself and his overpowered entourage, which consisted of three Level 19 humans.

So, everything went pretty chill.

They didn't encounter a single Stage 2 zombie.

Obviously, even though Stage 2 zombies weren't that rare after a week of the End, they still were not like roadside cabbages.

Unfortunately, the same thing didn't happen with other route where they encountered three Stage 2 zombies.

" Master... " Cecilia looked at Alex after relaying the news.

" Take Vienna with you and go there fastest. I don't want any casualties there, " Alex said casually.

" But... "

" Don't worry. I have Madison and Laurael here. And besides, I'm not as weak as you think, " Alex reassured.

" Okay... " Cecilia nodded and got out of the vehicle, handing over the steering to Madison.

" It's us again. It seems, " Alex said after some time.

" It feels good to be alone with you... You hardly pay attention to me nowdays, " Madison said while pouting.

Normally she acted like a good girlfriend and hardly voiced her discontent.

After ten minutes, they almost reached the outskirts of the Hiesta city and that's when Alex got the news that the cars in the back were attacked by a Stage 2 zombie, with ability of hopping.

Alex looked in the rear mirror, but couldn't see the end of the beeline in this darkness.

" Sigh. Madison go and help them fend off the Stage 2 zombie. It will be better if you give the kill to someone else, " Alex quickly stopped his vehicle.

At some point, he had taken over the steering while Madison now sat between his legs.

" Slurp... Okay... " She said and sat down on side-seat while adjusting her skirt and jacket.

Alex threw a long knife at her, which she had taken liking to while at the camp.

Madison catched the knife, made sure that her face was clean and got out, " I won't let anyone harm your merchandise. "

" I never said anything about selling them... " Alex sighed towards the retreating girl's back.

Alex relaxed while waiting for Madison to return.

He checked the system shop he had.

Madison, Cecilia, Vienna, Stephanie and Stella.

At some point in last two days, Stella and Stephanie as well had levelled up to The Stage cap.

Alex was happy with their growth.

' Just two more days at most. I'll have my own Stage 2 slave, ' Alex thought.

' Who should I promote though? ' He wondered.

Without a doubt, Madison was the best choice.

She was an Irregular, unbound by the World's destiny while holding the strong fate.

Vienna was also a good choice since she was the Strongest right now.

Even Madison and Cecilia together might not beat her.

That's how strong she was.

' Let's cross the bridge when I come across one, ' Alex yawned.

Intercom sounded once again.

" Master, Stage 2 zombie is dead. But, there is another change. We have found some survivors, " Laurael's voice came through.

' Survivors? Let's see... '

" What do they want? " Alex asked.

" They are asking for rescue thinking we are from military, " Laurael answered.

' Are you not from military? ' Alex wanted to retort.

But, he stopped himself.

" Huh? How far is it? "

" Not that far from here. As per them there are not many zombies there. Two or three members of our team should be enough, " Laurael said.

" Whatever. Tell them that we'll send someone to them later, " Alex said.

" I said so... But, they're offering something for our help. "

" What can they even offer? "

Their figure moved in the wind like flash.

" Alex! " Laurael approached Alex as soon as she saw him.

She handed him the ring.

Alex looked at it, but nothing happened.

" Madison... "

" What? I couldn't see anything, " Laurael said surprised.

" May be it's because I'm Level 19, " Madison said, as she kept looking at the ring.

" Alex, the ring actually has seven locks. Only its first lock is open. It looks like a good artifact, " Madison said with shining eyes.

She had played enough games to know what it meant.

They had chanced upon a brilliant artifact.

May be something like SSS grade!!!!

Ignoring the gaming addict girlfriend, Alex took the ring and threw it in his inventory.

" I'll give it to the one who needs it, " Alex said.

" Ah. Wait... What about my family? " Just them an unfamiliar male voice stopped Alex.

Aled looked back to find a man whose face he couldn't exactly see in darkness.

" Where did you find this ring? " Alex asked.

" For real? Thank you. Thank you young Master. This is my sister, if you will like she can be your girlfrie- Argh. Sis it hurts, " The man grimaced in pain as the other figure with him kicked him.

Alex just now noticed that other figure was a woman.

" Haha. If it's such a lovely lady, then I won't mind dating her at all, " Alex casually said as he climbed on Madison's back to return.

He was happy with what he had gotten.

He wondered whether it was this World's will, or Madison's destiny or his luck that had given him this ring.
