Merlyn

"With that display of power, you could have killed me just as easily. The fact that you are still conversing with me means that you want to make some deal with me?" Veranke voiced out her thoughts and tried taking the initiative for the conversation back into her hands.

"How smart of you!" Savant clapped mockingly. "But you got one thing wrong. This is not going to be a negotiation or a deal. Let's see, what would be the most perfect word to describe this situation. Enslavement? No, that sounds too uncivilized. Let's call it conditions for surrender."

Veranke clenched her teeth and got back into fighting stance once again. Her eyes showing a determination to die in battle if necessary.

"Calm down now. You were ready to enslave humans too, you just made the wrong moves and lost. Now you have a choice, we can let you live and continue ruling the Skrulls with Skrulls becoming the vassal of Earth.

Or, you can defy us and we will extract the location of every known Skrull settlements from your ships and your minds before wiping out your race out of existence. "

Veranke was boiling with anger but she didn't move a muscle. It was not because she didn't want to but she just couldn't. The pressure borne by facing Doom was already tough enough but when she faced Savant on top of that, it felt suffocating.

It didn't help that Savant, whom she knew from the gathered intelligence to be one of the smartest non-super powered humans who was compassionate and cared for human lives, was showing a menacing side of himself. But she understood it to a certain extent. Civilizations in the interstellar society resorted to destroying other civilizations on a regular basis.

In the vast universe where you could only choose between becoming a hunter or the hunted, everyone chose to be a hunter. So it was a battle between hunters to see who could come out on top.

While Veranke was still in deep thought, she heard a shout from behind her and turned to look. There she saw one of her soldiers clutching his throat as he flailed around trying to breathe while he was being suffocated by an invisible force.

She turned to look at Savant but he raised both his hands and denied immediately, "Don't look at me. I'm not the kind to torture any being unless they truly deserve it. This is more up the alley of our new Chancellor here."

Veranke turned to look at Doom and saw that it was really Doom who was casting the magic. Doom just scoffed, "Doom has a planet to run, you don't have the luxury to waste my time by thinking too long."

Veranke's teeth had been filed at this point with the constant gritting to suppress her anger. "I agree to your demands. But you have to promise that humans will not mistreat Skrulls."

Savant chuckled at the words while Doom just snorted and drew up a magic contract, "As the monarch and ruler of the Skrulls, sign this contract that will hold you enslave you to me. You will then rule the Skrulls based on our instructions. We will assist you in the meantime."

Looking at the contract, Veranke was apprehensive. She did not want to be enslaved to a human when she had been the royalty of a civilization for so long. On top of that, signing that would also mean making the Skrulls a puppet of humans.

She knew the future fate of the Skrulls because the Skrulls had once been the ones to make similar demand on the Kree civilization. This was also a hope for her because the Kree had eventually gotten rid of the Skrull domination and become a competitor for the Skrulls.

What's more is that the enslavement only worked between herself and Doom and the humans were still far from becoming an interstellar civilization. While the Skrulls were on the decline, they were still an intergalactic empire with a history of millions of years.

A group of pained and terrified screams of her soldiers brought Veranke back from her thoughts and with some hesitation walked forward to sign the contract.

While she was reading the terms of the contract, Savant spoke, "You don't have to think about finding loopholes. Our Chancellor is one of the smartest humans to ever exist to make small mistakes like that. As for trying to assassinate him through insidious means to get out of this contract, I hope you try. It would be a fun thing to watch."

After Veranke signed the contract, the floating goatskin burned up into flames that divided into two parts. One went inside Doom's body and the other into Veranke. Veranke could feel something like a slight weight had been placed on her soul. It wasn't something that would affect her normally but she could feel it if she tried.

Before leaving, Savant floated in the Sky and waved his hand. Veranke felt a psychic blast emanating from Savant as it rapidly spread in the desert for miles. All the Skrulls present on the scene except Veranke collapsed on the ground.

"Now only you remember us being here and the Skrull royalty being enslaved to humans." Savant floated back down and dusted his hands while speaking to the Skrull princess.

Doom just nodded before leaving with the final words, "Stand by here and wait for me to contact you. I will instruct you on how and where to reestablish the Skrull Empire."

The following months were relatively quiet with most of the news being dominated by which country leader got what position in the Earth Federation. Besides that Doom's push for free education worldwide and the promotion of science and technology was a hot topic.

"Will the GDP based contribution method be able to support such a massive organization like Earth Federation? Not everyone can pay the difference through labor like us mutants in Genosha can." Charles Xavier showed his concern.

After giving up on trying to convince humans, he had healed his legs and was now wearing his iconic cerebro helmet. Instead of the large room sized machine, with the combination of alien technology, the helmet itself was the cerebro machine now. Savant had even complimented the new look.

"You should know that your glory days are not for long. The darkness of the mutant-kind is racing toward you at a very high speed." Savant who was sitting next to Charles and enjoying the view of the vibrant city of mutants replied after a sip of beer.

"And we can't avoid it no matter what we do. Yes, all of our precognizant mutants have had similar warning visions. Even then, we have already provided as much help as we could to Wanda but with all the threat being multiversal, it's not like we can stop every Wanda in the multiverse."

Savant nodded, "Even if you tried universe hopping to stop the whole ordeal, the bearded mage from the myths will send his army to stop you from interfering. Anything that destabilizes reality is a big no-no for the wizard."

Charles was visibly confused and turned to stare at Savant inquisitively.

"That helmet looks cool and all but for normal people, communicating with you while you have it on is going to be a lot of trouble." Savant took another sip of beer after pointing out the flaw of Professor X's helmet.

"I'll ask if you want me to, but who is this wizard from the myths you are talking about? Aren't the majority of sorcerers already in affiliation with the Earth Federation?" Charles asked.

"Forget all the actual sorcerers and think of one of the most famous wizards from the western myths."

"Merlyn?"

"Yeah and since you called out his name, he probably already noticed us. Come grab a beer old man, the Omniverse won't die if you don't spy on it for a few minutes." Savant just shouted out into the void surprising Charles.

Even more surprisingly, a man with white hair and beard who looked to be in his 50's actually walked out of thin air. He was dressed like an average English man in his 50's. Other than his shirt having whimsical star patterns, he looked nothing out of ordinary.

Savant turned to Charles, "Don't be fooled by his appearance. The old man in front of you is one of the most powerful beings to come out of humanity. He looks like that but nobody even knows how old he is with certainty. Rumors are that he walks sideways through time instead of linearly like us mortals."

"For an outsider you know quite a lot, Savant. What do you say, want to join otherworld as my successor?" Merlin flicked his hands and a giant glass of beer appeared in his hands. He then proceeded to just lay down beside Savant and a beach chair formed under him on its own.

"Show off." Savant mumbled.

"Come now Charles. We have infinite beer, a great view and a great company, let loose and have some fun will you?"

Under the invitation of the supposed Merlin from the myths of Arthurian Tales who was also a multiversal entity, Charles sighed and sat down on the chair that had materialized out of this air and put away his helmet.

There is always something weird when it comes to Savant, he thought before chugging a glass of beer.
