Chapter 218: Did this Clown Dance and Save the World?!

[10 chapter daily on Patreon]

"All Nova pilots, establish network connection and set up an airspace blockade! We must not let the Dark Aster approach the planet's surface!" The Nova Corps in the sky received orders from the ground and immediately each ship formed a specific formation, hovering around the Dark Aster.

These ships emitted a yellow light, linking together to form an enormous and incomprehensible golden network that enveloped the Dark Aster.

The Dark Aster was instantly trapped like a fish caught in a net, unable to move forward.

Inside the Dark Aster, the Guardians of the Galaxy walked into a pitch-black room.

"I can't see anything," Drax said.

Groot extended his hand, and flowers immediately grew from it, emitting light like fireflies that filled the space, illuminating the surroundings.

"When did you learn that trick?" Drax was amazed.

"No need to ask, the answer is definitely 'I am Groot'," Peter Quill said.

"The flight deck is 300 meters from here," Gamora led the way up front.

"I wanted to say that I'm grateful you can forgive me for my grave mistakes and I'm glad to have..." Drax hesitated before continuing, "friends."

"Gamora, look at what you've done, you're still so useless," just then, Nebula suddenly jumped out, blocking their path, "You traitor, fool..."

Swoosh! Before she could finish her words, an energy beam had already hit her, sending her flying far away.

"Don't let her maliciously insult my friends," Drax slowly began to speak as he shouldered a rocket-like weapon. It was clear that he was the one who hit Nebula.

"You go to the flight deck, I'll disable the power supply system for the security doors," Gamora walked away quickly, parting ways from the group.

Earlier, when Drax blasted Nebula away, he coincidentally sent her flying towards the power supply system.

The blast had been quite powerful, deforming Nebula's appearance.

It's not a metaphor; her arm was twisted like a pretzel, her face flattened as if it had been run over by a wheel.

However, Nebula raised her arm, and her twisted arm cracked and reshaped itself, returning to its normal state in an instant.

She stood there, glaring at Gamora with a murderous intent.

"Nebula, please," Gamora pleaded with a tone of desperation, raising her hands.

But Nebula hesitated not at all, continuing to attack Gamora. The two sisters engaged in a fierce battle.

"I'm so fed up. Pilots of the Necrocraft, engage and annihilate them all," at this point, Ronan, who had been sitting comfortably in the rear, grew impatient.

Suddenly, the Necrocraft ships descended and began bombing the city relentlessly.

As the city was about to be reduced to ashes, a ship suddenly cut across the sky, ruthlessly firing at the Necrocraft ships.

It was Rocket Raccoon.

"Take Ronan up in the air, Saa'ra. I'll take care of protecting the people below," Rocket Raccoon told the Nova Corps commander.

"I can't believe I have to take orders from a big raccoon," Saa'ra muttered to herself.

"Xandarians, you are charged!" As the Necrocraft ships failed to produce results, Ronan personally took action. He shouted, "That pitiful peace treaty won't save you! This spark will reduce you to ashes!"

Then Ronan extended his Universal Weapon, and a surge of purple energy shot out, hitting the massive golden network formed by the countless Nova Corps ships.

Boom! In an instant, a gaping hole was blasted into the golden network that had been restraining the Dark Aster, causing the ships to explode one by one.

"Rocket!" Saa'ra's ship had been flattened, and it looked like it was about to give in.

"Hold on! Saa'ra!" Rocket Raccoon looked up at the sky and shouted, "Saa'ra, hang on..."

Before he could finish his sentence, Saa'ra's ship exploded.

But Saa'ra wasn't alone; countless other ships exploded alongside hers.

Rocket Raccoon looked up and saw the exploding stars spreading like wildfire, instantly engulfing the entire golden network. The once golden sky turned pitch-black.

The Nova Corps had been utterly defeated!

"Quill, you need to speed up!" Rocket Raccoon couldn't help but say to Peter Quill, "The city has already started evacuating, and I'm about to get knocked out."

"Gamora hasn't opened the door yet," Peter Quill knocked down enemies in front of him and approached a massive iron door.

What was Gamora doing?

She was in battle.

Fighting against her sister Nebula.

Gamora's strength was already slightly superior to Nebula's, and after fighting for a while, she kicked Nebula away.

One side of the ship had already been blasted open, and Nebula flew directly out of the hole. She was about to fall, but her wrist was precisely impaled by a sharp iron spike, suspending her in mid-air.

"Sister, help us deal with Ronan. You know he's a madman," Gamora walked to the edge of the hole, extending her hand towards Nebula.

"I know you're all mad," Nebula glanced at Gamora, then fiercely slammed her right fist onto her own left hand, directly breaking her wrist. She plummeted downward.

"Nebula is really ruthless, even to herself." Stephen Strange commented.

"This is a true example of 'a hero sacrifices a limb for a greater cause.'" Bruce Banner added.

"I used to think Nebula was also a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Now it seems she's completely opposed to them," Scott Lang said, "She fights for Ronan, aiding and abetting the tyrant."

"But she did fight alongside us to defeat Thanos later," Steve Rogers said, "Remember when Stephen viewed 14,000,605 possible futures? In one of those, Nebula fought desperately against Thanos alongside Gamora. Their sisterly bond was evident. However, in this current scenario, she seems to harbor a strong hatred for Gamora. It's really hard to understand their relationship."

"I don't know the details of their sisterhood, but what I do know is that in this situation, dancing surely can't refer to Nebula," Stephen Strange said, "The title mentions dancing to save the world. Undoubtedly, it refers to defeating Ronan and saving the world from him. But Nebula is loyal to Ronan, so how could she fight against him?"

"Not Gamora, and not Nebula either." Tony Stark's gaze fell on Peter Quill, "I think it's safe to say that the Destroyer isn't exactly the dancing type, so the correct answer to this riddle should be..."

"Me?" Peter Quill pointed at himself, "No, no, no! How could it be me? Aside from the fact that I don't know if I can dance, Ronan is a man. Would he really watch another man dance?"

"Could Ronan have a peculiar fetish?" Loki chuckled, "This is some explosive gossip. Even my gossip-loving soul can't help but burn with curiosity."

"It's not me who's dancing!" Peter Quill shook his head repeatedly, "It must be Nebula!"

"You saw it too. Nebula and Gamora were fighting so fiercely. She's with Ronan." Bruce Banner said.

"Undercover agent! She must be an undercover agent!" Peter Quill exclaimed.

"This level of undercover is something I've never seen before," Phil Coulson remarked.

As the video continued, the people in the room grew more and more perplexed. The intense interstellar battle was a stark contrast to the word "dance."

Why would someone be dancing in such a situation?

And how could dancing defeat Ronan?

It was truly baffling.

Nevertheless, they continued watching. In the video, with Nebula no longer in her way, Gamora successfully disabled the power supply system.

After Gamora finished her task, Peter Quill's faced the heavy security door. It rumbled open, and they quickly rushed inside.

Ronan stood there, gazing at the stars. Sensing movement behind him, he swiftly turned around, finding four new figures.

Gamora, Groot, Drax, and Peter Quill. Among them, Peter Quill was holding a Quantum Rocket Launcher.

Boom!

The Quantum Rocket Launcher fired a projectile that accurately hit Ronan's chest, releasing a surge of blue energy that engulfed him.

"You did it!" Drax shouted in joy at the sight.

A smile appeared on Peter Quill's face.

But that smile quickly withered as he saw a figure rise from the dust ahead.

It was Ronan.

Despite taking a direct hit from the Quantum Rocket Launcher, he hadn't been killed. He hadn't even lost a hair.

Without a word, Ronan aimed his Universal Weapon at the Guardians of the Galaxy. Invisible energy shot out, knocking everyone down.

Drax was the first to get back on his feet. Roaring, he charged towards Ronan, but he was lifted up like a little chick by Ronan, who seized his neck.

"I misspoke. I remembered your family," Ronan said, looking at the struggling Drax in his grip, "They screamed quite pitifully at the time, and I..."

Before he could finish his sentence, a ship suddenly crashed into them, submerging Ronan and Drax's bodies.

Once the ship came to a halt, Peter Quill pulled Rocket Raccoon out of the wreckage. It was his feat of flying the ship into Ronan.

Drax, however, had been grazed by the ship during his evasion, and he fell unconscious. Gamora dragged him out.

Boom, boom!

Whether due to the impact from Rocket Raccoon's ship or other factors, explosions started to erupt across the Dark Aster. The surroundings began to collapse, and the ship itself started to disintegrate.

The Dark Aster began to plummet.

Groot observed all of this, without uttering a word. Just as he later saw Thor burned to a crisp by a neutron star without saying a word, he let his actions speak for him.

He spread his arms wide.

From his body, branches began to grow.

These branches multiplied and intertwined, forming a cocoon of branches that enveloped everyone.

The cocoon was impervious, but it was adorned with numerous glowing flowers, illuminating the interior.

Green leaves blossomed on the branches, exuding boundless vitality.

Rocket Raccoon slowly regained consciousness. Upon witnessing this scene, tears welled up in his eyes. "No! Groot! Don't do this, you'll die!"

"We... are... Groot." Groot gazed at Rocket Raccoon, growing another branch to wipe away his tears.

Boom!

The Dark Aster crashed onto the ground, leveling half the city.

Amidst the flames and swirling dust, Peter Quill, Drax, and Gamora lay on the ground.

They looked a bit worse for wear but were largely unharmed.

But Groot, once a towering figure, was now reduced to a scattered collection of branches.

"You're such a fool of a tree," Rocket Raccoon knelt, holding a small piece of branch.

A crowd of Xandarians gathered around, looking at the newcomers who had fallen from the sky.

At that moment, Ronan, wielding the Universal Weapon, slowly approached from the wreckage of the Dark Aster.

The members of the Guardians of the Galaxy would have had to sacrifice Groot to survive, but Ronan remained unscathed!

Seeing Ronan, fear painted the faces of the Xandarians. They instinctively stepped back.

"You killed Groot!" Rocket Raccoon turned around, shouting at Ronan in anger, then charged toward him.

However, Ronan didn't even lift a finger. A purple light flashed on his Universal Weapon, sending Rocket Raccoon flying.

"Witness the true worth of your Guardians of the Galaxy! Besides causing chaos, you're utterly worthless!" Ronan shouted at the crowd. "Thanks to my grandfather and my father, this revenge has been brewing! Xandarians! The time of jubilation has arrived! Cast aside your pitiful and ignorant gods. Your savior has come!"

"Oh, child~" Ronan's speech was still fervent, but suddenly a song rang out.

What?

Why would someone be singing at a time like this?

Could it be my ears playing tricks on me?

Ronan's face registered disbelief as he slowly turned his head, only to see Peter Quill standing there, singing with gusto.

"Oh, child~" Peter Quill sang with emotion, making sure to remind Ronan, "Listen to the lyrics carefully."

"The crucial part is here!" Peter Quill sang and then leaped into an impromptu dance, singing, "Someday..."

Of course, the dancing was far from graceful or coordinated; it was simply a chaotic jig.

"What are you doing?" Ronan was utterly perplexed, completely unaware of what performance Peter Quill was putting on.

"Dance-off, bro. You and me." Peter Quill swayed his hips forward and backward, then extended his hand toward Gamora, "Gamora."

Gamora shook her head repeatedly, having no intention of participating in this absurdity.

"So, it's my turn again." Peter Quill continued his wild gesticulations.

"What on earth are you doing?!" Ronan's tone grew more intense as he repeated his question.

"I'm diverting your attention, big face," Peter Quill replied, dancing as he spoke.

Damn!

At that moment, Ronan realized the danger. After all, the Guardians of the Galaxy didn't consist solely of this joker. What were the others doing while he was being entertained?

He turned his head and saw Drax standing behind him, holding a massive gun.

Boom!

The gun fired, directly hitting Ronan's Universal Weapon.

Ronan had affixed the Infinity Stone to his Universal Weapon, and this shot from Drax shattered the weapon. The Infinity Stone flew into the air.

Ronan reached out to grab the Infinity Stone, but someone else was quicker. That someone was Peter Quill.

In a leap, he managed to snatch the Infinity Stone from the air before Ronan could reach it.

"Ah!!!"

Immediately, a heart-wrenching scream echoed.

The energy of the Infinity Stone erupted in Peter Quill's hand, and a purple mist surged around him. Purple energy continued to emanate from his body.

Peter Quill's skin peeled away in patches, revealing purple cracks, as if he could collapse from the impact of the energy at any moment.

The painful sight of Peter Quill unfolded before the eyes of everyone in the answering space, leaving them momentarily speechless.

Previously, he had been a complete goof, almost costing them victory in the fight against Thanos. Many had looked down on him.

But now, witnessing his willingness to sacrifice himself to save Xandar, their perception of him had changed.

This man might be a joker, unreliable at times, but he was undeniably a hero who could give his life to protect his people.

"That's the Infinity Stone. Trying to grab it with your hand is as good as suicide," Thor was the first to speak, slapping Peter Quill's shoulder heavily. "Your actions were heroic, but not very wise. You were basically courting death. However, I have to say, well done."

"Mr. Quill, I think we could take down Thanos together," Tony Stark chimed in. "If you could just be a bit less impulsive when facing Thanos."

For Tony Stark to say this was akin to an apology, given his usual pride.

"Mr. Quill, I salute you," Steve Rogers said. "You're a true hero."

"Uh..." Peter Quill was used to bragging about himself, but being praised in person made him a bit uncomfortable. He chuckled, "It's not a big deal, really. I believe that everyone here would have made the same choice."

"No," Thor shook his head firmly. "I wouldn't make the same choice. If it were me, I'd smash Ronan with a single blow. Why bother with awkward dancing and gem-snatching?"

"I wouldn't either. I'd charge in with my nanotech suit. Even if I couldn't kill Ronan, I wouldn't make it easy for him," Tony Stark said. "Plus, I have thousands of Iron Legion suits—more than enough to give Ronan a hard time."

"As for me, I'd call out the Hulk. I believe Ronan would be instantly smashed to bits," Bruce Banner added.

"Well, my approach..." Stephen Strange also spoke up.

"OK! OK! I'm just a loser. You guys don't need to say any more!" Peter Quill's eyes welled up with tears as he heard their words.

So, you're all big shots, and I'm just a loser!

Peter Quill couldn't help but feel a bit indignant. He had seen videos of the Avengers before, and they were truly powerful. Several of them had even wrestled with Thanos directly. Although they ultimately lost, their formidable strength was undeniable.

In Peter Quill's tearful gaze, the video continued playing.

"Peter, take my hand!" Gamora reached out her hand to Peter Quill.

"Hold my hand, Peter." At this moment, patches of skin were peeling from Peter Quill's face, and his eyes were purple. In immense agony, he seemed to see his own mother.

He extended his hand toward his mother and grabbed Gamora's hand.

The power of the Infinity Stone immediately transferred from Peter Quill to Gamora. Like Peter Quill, Gamora began to scream in agony.

Not only Gamora but also Drax and Rocket Raccoon were enduring the onslaught of the Infinity Stone's energy. Step by difficult step, they approached Peter Quill.

Finally, Drax placed his hand on Peter Quill's shoulder, and Rocket Raccoon grabbed Drax's hand.

"Ah!"

"Ah!"

"Ah!"

"Ah!"

So, the four of them stood in a row, competing to see who could scream the loudest.

It has to be said that this scene was quite impressive. Everyone knew the consequences of touching the Infinity Stone, yet they all rushed forward without hesitation, standing together with their companions.

Ronan was also within the sphere of purple energy radiating from the Infinity Stone. He had been watching Peter Quill and the others play a hand-holding game, unmoved. In his understanding, these individuals were as good as dead.

How could mere mortals dare to touch the Infinity Stone directly? Surely they would die a gruesome death?

However, what surprised him was that Peter Quill and the others not only survived but gradually stabilized.

They weren't even screaming anymore.

They were fine!

They had withstood the power of the Infinity Stone!

"How is this possible?" Ronan couldn't believe his eyes, his voice filled with astonishment. "You're just mortals!"

"Like you said, you bastard, we're the Guardians of the Galaxy." Peter Quill spread his palm, and the Infinity Stone in his hand sprayed out purple energy. The flames-like energy licked at Ronan's body.

"Ah!" Amid a long, agonizing scream, Ronan's body was covered in purple cracks before it exploded directly, completely vanishing from this world, not even leaving a speck of dust behind.

Seeing Ronan's demise, Gamora quickly used the metallic sphere to press against Peter Quill's palm, returning the Infinity Stone back into the sphere.

The sky filled with purple energy dissipated, the apocalyptic scene fading away, and the blue sky and white sun reappeared.

"Not bad, not bad. The audiovisual effects were quite good, truly touching," Yondu Udonta appeared with a large group of Ravagers. He walked up to Peter Quill, "But our business isn't finished yet. After all this is done, you can go back to your lovey-dovey games."

"Peter, you can't," Gamora said.

"You should think it over carefully, Yondu," Peter Quill said to Yondu Udonta, "I don't know who you want to sell it to, but the only way to prevent the destruction of the universe is to hand it over to the Nova Corps."
