Chapter 14: Blasting Loki Away

"Sir, I've shut down the Ark Reactor, but the Cube is still supplying energy," Tony Stark flew over in his red armor, with Jarvis' distinct deep voice.

"Close it, Dr. Selvig," Tony Stark hovered in the air, looking down on Dr. Selvig standing beside the portal device.

"It's too late. It's already unstoppable. It's going to show us a whole new universe," Dr. Selvig's eyes flickered with fanaticism.

"Fine." Tony Stark extended his hand and aimed at the launch device, firing two repulsor blasts. However, a force field immediately formed at the point of impact, and the repulsor blasts not only failed to penetrate the force field but also rebounded, almost knocking him out of the air.

"It's made of pure energy and cannot be penetrated," Jarvis reminded.

"Yes, I've noticed," Tony Stark said in a deep voice. "Plan B."

"Sir, the Mark VII is not ready for combat," Jarvis reminded again.

"Then forget about it. We're running out of time." Tony Stark landed on Stark Tower, and mechanical arms emerged from the ground, starting to remove his armor. Meanwhile, Loki, holding the scepter, watched him.

"When Romanoff closed the portal earlier, I felt a sense of familiarity. So Loki, this bastard, chose my building as the battleground!" Tony Stark was infuriated.

"There are so many tall buildings in New York. Why did he choose Stark Tower?" Nick Fury glanced at Tony Stark and said, "Is it because you're such an annoying person?"

"It takes a certain skill to be hated by a god to this extent," Tony Stark retorted, never letting his eyes off the screen.

After all, it was his building, and he wanted to see what was happening up there.

"Are you trying to seek my favor?" Loki held the scepter and said with a pleased expression.

"Actually, I'm here to blackmail you," Tony Stark replied, as unpredictable as always.

"Well, at least you should be wearing your armor," Loki said as he walked towards Tony Stark.

"Yeah." Tony Stark crossed his arms and descended the stairs step by step, seemingly having a casual conversation with a friend rather than an enemy. "Unfortunately, it won't work, and you're still holding that glaring scepter."

"Care for a drink?" Tony Stark walked down the stairs and arrived at the bar, filled with various kinds of liquor.

"Delaying won't save you," Loki laughed.

"No, I'm threatening you," Tony Stark corrected seriously, then started pouring himself a drink. "Aren't you drinking? Well, I'll have one myself."

"My people are about to arrive, and you're all doomed," Loki turned around and looked at the clean, transparent floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing into the sky. "What do I have to fear?"

"The Avengers," Tony Stark said, holding the bottle of alcohol. "That's what we call ourselves, a team. 'Earth's Mightiest Heroes.'"

"Yes, I've had the pleasure," Loki sneered, his face filled with disdain.

"But it took us some time to figure out. Let me count the casualties for you," Tony Stark also laughed, but his tone was completely different from Loki's. "Your brother, that handsome little guy. A legendary figure who can't die; a big guy with a killer temper; and a pair of elite assassins." As he spoke, Tony Stark pointed at Loki. "And you, unlucky one, you've pissed them all off!"

Loki didn't notice that while Tony Stark was saying these words, he discreetly put on a wristband.

"That's exactly my plan," Loki said, strolling leisurely.

"A lousy plan," Tony Stark walked out of the bar with a glass in his hand. "When they come... and they will come, they'll come looking for you!"

"I have an army," Loki said.

"We have the Hulk!" Tony Stark said.

"I thought the big guy was lost," Loki remarked.

"You still don't understand the situation," Tony Stark approached Loki step by step with the glass in his hand. "You'll never sit on the throne. There's no possibility that will make you succeed. Maybe your army will come, maybe we won't be able to defeat you, but we'll come for you. If the Earth falls, we'll definitely come for revenge."

"If your friends become enemies, they won't have time to come for me!" Loki walked up to Tony Stark and raised the scepter, aiming for his chest.

Loki had used this method many times, and it never failed. But when the scepter touched Tony Stark's chest, he showed no signs of being affected.

Loki was taken aback and raised the scepter again, pointing it at Tony Stark's chest, but once again, Tony Stark remained unaffected.

"I've never missed," Loki said, puzzled.

"It's rare for things to go wrong, don't blame yourself. Who doesn't have their..." Tony Stark started sarcastically, but before he could finish his sentence, Loki grabbed him by the throat and threw him out.

"Jarvis, what are you waiting for?" Tony Stark said, struggling to speak.

Clang!

In the next moment, a set of red armor was launched and caught up with Tony Stark who was falling from the sky.

The device emitted two red beams that scanned the wristband on Tony Stark's wrist. Then, the entire set of armor automatically split and transformed, fitting onto Tony Stark. In this way, Tony Stark didn't even have to lift a finger, and he completed the process of wearing the armor while free-falling.

"You can put it on like this. Stark, your Mark 7 is much cooler than your current armor!" Nick Fury couldn't help but admire.

"Who says it isn't?" Tony Stark accepted the compliment without modesty. "Just look at who designed and built this."

"Yeah, compared to that, the current armor can only be put on 'manually' on the spot. It's a bit foolish," Natasha Romanoff added.

"And you've also offended someone else, Agent Coulson." In the video, Tony Stark, now wearing the armor, flew back and sent Loki flying with a repulsor blast.

The screen went black, and the scene ended.
