One moment, I'm going to buy food for Cat and her siblings, and the next, my woman is lying unconscious in a hospital bed with tubes hooked to her body. 

She's pale, having lost a lot of blood after being hit by a truck. There's a blood drip attached to her body, my only string of hope that by some luck, she might recover.

Cat is the strongest person I know—a fighter who won't give up no matter how hard the battle is. Yet now, she is fighting for her life and all I can do is hold onto the thin string of hope on which her life is hanging precariously. 

She's on life support and not even Esteban can guarantee she will make it out of this one. 

Why did I protect Elena and Rico so much? I did my best to ensure the two of them were safe, and it came down to this. I should have let Simeon finish them off. Only, that would hurt Cat more than anything else.
