Trick 42: Destroying the Destroyer?!

Ace jumped from the fridge to the table and looked up at the hefty fellow. Thor looked at him, introducing "He is Volstagg, the blonde is Fandral, and lastly this one is Hogun."

Volstagg looked around, asking "Who are you-" Thor pointed in front of him as Ace wrote in the air "Welcome to Earth, or rather Midgard." Jane, Darcy, and Erik's eyes widened as they stared at Ace in sheer shock.

Volstagg nodded and smiled "How do you do…" Ace wrote in the air, "You may call me Cloak. Are you here to take Thor back to Asgard? I was under the impression he was exiled?"

Sif interrupted and asked "Who are-" Thor cut her off, saying with a smile "It's alright. I trust him." she looked at him for a moment before Fandral explained "Yes, we are here to bring Thor back. Loki has ascended the throne and-"

Thor interrupted them, saying "I cannot return, nor should you all have come here." They turned to him, dumbfounded, asking "We came to bring you back, Thor!"

Thor looked at them, shaking his head as he retorted, "You know I can't go home… my father is dead because of me… and I must remain in exile." Volstagg, Hogun, and Fandral were confused and Sif shook her head in confusion, replying "Thor… your father still lives!"

Thor froze and he looked at them, slowly saying "What…" before turning to Ace, who shook his head, writing in the air "I told you. In legend, Loki is the God of Trickery, not to mention… You aren't too hard to fool. Nevertheless, you must regain your powers and return to Asgard."

Thor was silent and Ace turned to the Warriors Three, writing again "He has been stripped of his power, he must retrieve Mjolnir before returning. Do any of you know how to break enchantments and charms?"

The warriors three looked at each other in dismay while Sif asked with a frown, "What do you mean, magical creature?" Ace replied by writing "Mjolnir is under a charm by Odin, granting whoever is worthy of Thor's power. If we can break the charm, Thor can regain his powers."

Sif and the Warriors Three turned pale and looked at Thor in dismay. Ace frowned and wrote "What." Hogun said simply "Only Queen Frigga can do such a thing." Fandral added, "To make matters worse, the Queen will not leave his Majesty's side during this time!"

Ace frowned deeply, this really was an issue. He held his paw on his chin and thought about the situation, maybe the Ancient One had a solution? He should call her!

Before he could even think about anything else, a giant beam of light fell from the sky in the distance!

Everyone turned to look at the event, running outside quickly.

Darcy asked slowly "Was someone else coming?"

Ace frowned and transformed back into his human form, completely cloaked. He held his wand to his neck under his cloak and spoke, "Everyone please evacuate from the town! This is very urgent, your lives may be in danger."

His voice echoed through the town, still distorted, as even the agents on the landing site miles away heard him.

Thor looked at Ace, who turned around, saying "Evacuate the people, I will fight with you 4." he looked at Thor and said "You should leave as well." Thor fell silent but Volstagg didn't agree, saying "Thor should fight with us!"

Thor reached his hand out, saying "No. The mage is right. I am but a man. I will not provide any help and in the worst case scenario, get one of you killed. I will help evacuate the people."

Jane looked at him and said "Then I'm staying too!" Thor looked at her for a moment before turning to his friends, saying "We'll need some time." Fandral replied "You'll have it!" as Thor nodded and ran off.

Ace turned around and looked to the distance, shouting again "Forget your belongings and evacuate please!" Sif and the Warriors three looked at him asking "What can you do?"

Ace stopped and replied simply, "Magic." as he walked towards the metal giant. The 4 of them looked at each other and followed after Ace.

Ace spread his hands open and his cards appeared around him. He cracked his neck and muttered "Oh boy, here we go." He grabbed the Stars Card and threw it at the giant.

The card exploded into shining stars that created a constellation above the giant before projecting on the giant, piercing it with light, locking it in place.

He looked to his side as Volstagg was thrown at the giant, slashing his ax at it, only for the Giant to break the restraints and slap Volstagg into a car. It smashed the rest of the restraints and Ace waved his hand, recalling the Stars card with a frown.

Hogun explained "The Destroyer is resistant to all forms of Magic and Witchcraft. It was once his Majesty's Personal Armor!" Ace muttered "That's great…"

The Destroyer turned to Volstagg and opened up its mask as fire bubbled up. Ace shot a Hierophant Card and covered Volstagg with a shield as Sif fell from the sky, stabbing the Destroyer through the neck, pinning it to the ground as Volstagg got up.

Ace recalled his card and Volstagg nodded at him. Ace waved his hand and looked at the Destroyer morphing to the other way, facing Sif before blasting a beam of flames at her.

She jumped off and started running as the Destroyer slid off the spear and turned to the group.

Ace frowned and threw out his Hierophant Card again as a flame beam flew towards them.

The beam collided with the shield and Ace cleared his throat, picking out 2 more cards with one hand, while holding out the other pumping mana into the Hierophant card. The Destroyer pressed on, walking towards the shield while blasting it with a flame beam.

Ace was starting to sweat silently as he tossed the Devil card to the ground, saying "Get out of the way." the 4 Asgardians ran to the side as Ace canceled the barrier, catching the Hierophant card before rolling behind the Devilish creature as it blocked for him.

The devil creature was made of mana so it couldn't really feel pain at all.

It roared strangely and Ace gripped the side of it as it charged at the Destroyer.

The Destroyer blasted it with another beam, blowing the creature's head to mana particles before slapping the body to the side.

However!

Ace was right behind it, lunging at the Destroyer with bulging arms full of muscle! He flew at the Destroyer and grabbed its neck, flipping over and slamming it into the ground.

Ace quickly grabbed its leg and spun on the spot, throwing it into the sky before catching both the Devil and Strength cards as he whipped out his wand and pointed at the Destroyer in the sky, muttering "Bombarda Maxima."

The Destroyer was suddenly enveloped in a massive cloud of smoke as a huge explosion occurred in mid air!

Ace watched as the Destroyer fell to the ground and stopped moving. He put away his wand and walked away over to Thor and his friends, saying "We need to figure out how to get you back to Asgard as soon as possible."

Thor slapped Ace's shoulder, laughing "My friend! You were truly courageous! Hahaha!" Ace nodded and pressed the Lover's card on Volstagg, healing his injuries before catching the card back as he spoke once again, "Needless to say, Kamar-Taj will help its Asgardian friends."

He suddenly froze and turned around, getting a gut feeling of danger for some reason. He pulled out the Hierophant card and used it instantly as a massive beam of flames blasted the shield.

Ace flipped his fingers and used the Hermit card on the group of Thor and his friends, teleporting them away. Unfortunately, he didn't have enough mana to send them far enough, only to the other side of the street.

Just after this, his shield broke and his cloak wrapped around his body as he was blasted flying through several buildings, landing on the ground in a rut of displaced asphalt.

Ace groaned as his cards fell around him. He grabbed them weakly as the Destroyer smashed through a building, walking towards him.

He chuckled and put the cards away, holding his arm up as a bright purple light surged above his palm. He coughed and muttered "A little closer…" However, as the Destroyer came closer, Thor appeared!

He shouted "Hold it! Brother! It's me you want. Leave these innocents alone!" The Destroyer paused and turned to Thor before ignoring Ace, who had his purple mana return to his body.

He let out a breath and rested his head on the asphalt. It was a good thing he was concealed in darkness otherwise everyone would notice his skin cracking with purple light shining through under it.

The cracks slowly started healing and his face became more and more healthy.

Thor looked at the Destroyer and said "Brother, whatever I have done to wrong you. I am truly sorry." The Destroyer's open mask slowly closed and Thor smiled slightly as the Destroyer turned around, seemingly to leave.

However, just when Thor least expected it, the Destroyer backhand slapped him, sending him flying across town, slamming into the asphalt!

Ace's eyes widened and he sat up, sucking in a cold breath as he held his stomach. Volstagg helped him up and Ace muttered "Bring me to him, damn it…" as he groaned in pain.

Volstagg looked at Thor and closed his eyes, not replying nor moving.

Jane ran to Thor and held him as she cried.

Ace sighed and hung his head, blaming himself. If only he had more means! He could've sent Thor away!

As he was beating himself up, there was a boom in the distance.

Everyone looked up and Erik ran to Jane, pulling her away as the object smashed towards Thor, who caught it!

It was Mjolnir!
