A few weeks has passed since the Hale and Buddhist pack clashed against Deucalion's pack, even managing to kill his two oldest Alphas and still being alive to tell it.
A few other people turned up missing during the week, alerting the resident packs of Beacon Hills that someone was up to something and was very active with it.
The most those concerned knew was that Deucalion and his pack had initially been hunting someone back to Beacon Hills, most likely the one behind people randomly disappearing.
For the older ones, i.e Satomi, Chris and Derek, they more or less could hazard a few guesses on what was being done and none of those guesses were game.
Being the oldest one present, Satomi could already see the patterns drawing, not just from her own conjectures but also from the weird things that happened before the kidnappings started and also during the past few weeks.
Tristan inexplicably waking up in the middle of the night and saying he felt something weird was also another point to note if one knew what they were looking for.
Knowing the nature of events surrounding the disappearances, Satomi could only sigh as she was presented with only two choices: either call one of her oldest friends still alive, or speak with Alan Deaton.
Those were the only options available as what was happening was of druidic nature.
What else could warrant such attention from Deucalion if not a keeper of nature. The Demon Wolf was also the reason she was this invested in deaths.
At this point, it could be said that their two packs were at war.
Deucalion was not a forgiving man; he had long ceased to be such a person. And given what they witnessed during Tristan's ascension and the events that transpired between the two of them, Deucalion would likely kill Tristan if the boy continued refusing to join his pack.
With the child being an Alpha, she was sure his growth curve from here on would only be ridiculous, especially with the 'few' discoveries he's made ever since becoming an Alpha.
[A/N: Tristan will also be called an Alpha instead of something like a Sire or Primogenitor. I did my research and basically the term 'Alpha' is not exclusive to just wolves. It's a broad term, if anything else, to describe someone at top of a group or community]
Now having an Alpha under her was already surprising enough, but an Alpha vampire?
…..
[Deucalion POV]
He might have miscalculated a little bit but the end result was still a pleasing experience.
He had factored in the likelihood of Eniss dying to Derek Hale, but what he didn't expect was Kali dying at the boy's hands.
Whether or not he was helped at the end was inconsequential as the boy had done more than expected by weakening Kali down to a level he could contend with on equal grounds.
"A vampire.. Now an Alpha." A light chuckle left his mouth. "And now he's on the board. You will have to make a choice sooner or later, Tristan. We all will."
Speaking to that point, the air around him turned stern as he remembered the reason for his most recent troubles.
A half-dead druid. Pesky things.
"You better hurry up your sacrifices, Julia. Because unlike Kali, my claws never fail to reap out my prey's life." His voice sounded distorted as he spoke while the glasses he wore shone with a dim red hue.
…..
Having quickly acclimated to the change of status to an Alpha, Tristan's next move was figuring out just what being an Alpha vampire entailed.
While the added strength was always a nice sensation, he knew that wasn't even part of his added abilities as an Alpha.
The first thing he noticed was how easily he could now move and manipulate it. Now he could make it even harder than it was during his fight with Kali, quite easy too he might add.
Boosted senses and physique, along with better control, were his basic abilities so it was quite obvious that they'd all receive an enhancement. So after testing them out for a bit, Tristan delved in deeper and what he found made him feel as if the world was finally listening to his silent complaints.
Compulsion.
He could command people with his words. So far it has only worked on humans but he fervently hoped that it'll grow strong to the point that he would then be able to compel even supernatural creatures.
Turns out that Lydia is also a supernatural creature so he couldn't compel her to keep quiet. The only downside of the ability he's found so far.
Compulsion to the side, he somehow gained the ability to call crows and ravens to flock towards him. It was a bit strange for him at first when crows started flocking to their house every night and following him around anytime he left the house but he was able to quickly figure it out. Faster than he even did when trying out the limits of his compulsion.
He had no clue on how calling crows could be useful but he wasn't complaining. Hopefully he'll find a productive use of that ability down the line.
The next thing on the list were his poisonous claws. Though not as potent as his fangs, the effect of the paralytic poison his claws now carried was visibly effective. Thankfully, it was something he could tune on and off, even slightly lowering the potency.
It was also because of his poisonous claws that made him discover another of his new abilities.
Like one could imagine, without knowing how dangerous his claws were now, he'd mistakenly poisoned Malia one time when they got 'handsy'.
He had almost broken down in panic when Malia had turned stiff and then silent after a few minutes until he looked up at her. The first thing he did was to suck her blood to know what was wrong with her, an action that left him flabbergasted because while he could feel something paralytic in her system, it disappeared as soon as he swallowed the blood.
Lost and left with no other available options other than completely draining her blood and feeding him with hers, he bit his wrist and forced his blood down her throat as a test run since whatever paralyzed her seemed to have no effect on him.
Long story short, with the discovery of his poisoned claws came also the discovery of the healing properties his blood now possessed.
Allison and Lydia were more than ecstatic to test that out, well not Lydia but Allison pressured her into it, and so they did.
He guessed that seeing your wound closing up with a speed your eye can follow was a novel experience to normal humans with how stunned the two girls were when they saw the small cut they made close up in seconds.
During all this, Satomi gave him a little warning concerning his fangs which also changed after becoming an Alpha. Unlike his more pronounced single pair of canines on both sides of his mouth before becoming an Alpha, now almost all his fangs were canines with both sides of his mouth now accommodating 3 canine pairs each that were more jutted out and pronounced than the others.
According to Satomi, new Alphas are sometimes overcome by instinct or an overwhelming desire that most times than not they end up succumbing to it and sire a beta without meaning to.
Basically he had to watch out for his fangs' equivalent of the urge to impregnate a girl that everyone has at some point during sex.
The extra tidbit that AN Alpha biting another supernatural creature with the intent to sire them under him would definitely kill them was all the reason for caution Tristan needed, given how the only one he bit was Malia.
With how he was training to get his abilities to work on command and the addition of Satomi's warning, Malia had to bear over a week of abstinence until Tristan got his poison under control and stopped it from acting up on its own at random times.
All in all, without the presence of Deucalion hovering round him and triggering his instincts to act aggressively, Tristan had a few weeks of calm that helped him focus fully on his new abilities and keeping his now broader emotional spectrum in check.
Retraining his emotions to be kept in check brought back some fond memories of when Satomi had given him the bite.
With Satomi, Allison's father and Derek working(separately) to find out the perpetrator of the kidnappings(serial murder at this point), the high school teens were able to rewind a bit and temporarily focus on their teenage lives.
Isaac and Erica returned to school, much to Boyd's excitement, along with someone new, Cora Hale, Derek's younger sister.
She was only in school because Derek had turned into a paranoid Alpha and wanted all his betas together at all times. Finding out his sister had been alive all these years and then held hostage along with his beta to force his submissions stirred up something fierce inside the Hale Alpha.
In other words, a normal few weeks for the residents of Beacon Hills - human and supernatural.
