The caravan, with its medium-sized entourage, was en route to Qing Mao Mountain. In an effort to minimize risks and evade the perilous beasts, they decided it best to traverse the treacherous mountain slopes. Alas, this did not exempt them from casualties. Countless mortals and gu masters perished along the journey, with many left unburied.
However, amidst the chaos and tragedy, a glimmer of hope shone. A large, formidable rank-4 Rock Frog was positioned in the heart of the caravan. filled to brim with precious goods, it also safeguarded three coveted rank-4 Gu with the utmost vigilance. Despite the mounting dangers, this Rock Frog remained a steadfast symbol to the rest, helping to calm their wary hearts.
Ecstatic with anticipation, the leader of the caravan exclaimed, "With this job, we shall strike it rich! Three Yellow Gold Relic Gu, each fetching a handsome sum of 600,000!" The scent of primeval stones rolling in was what kept him up at night.
However, amidst the thrill of profit, the leader maintained constant awareness. Who were the prospective buyers for such high-value Gu? They were none other than rank-4 gu masters, a powerful clientele indeed. This knowledge prompted the leader to exercise utmost caution and diligence, wary of any potential ambushes along the way.
As the caravan trod along the mountain edge, a lone person caught the attention of the vigilant leader. A rank-4 gu master, no less. He inwardly sighed, hoping that the wanderer was merely a solitary cultivator who had lost his way. Although, the chances of that were slimmer than winning a Gu at rock gambling.
Unwilling to take any chances, the leader bellowed, "Halt! Any closer and you will be deemed an enemy and dispatched without a moments hesitation!"
The gu master halted in his tracks, eliciting a fleeting sense of relief in the caravan leader. But before he could exhale, without warning, the enigmatic figure charged forth, his intentions as clear as day.
"Eliminate him!" thundered the leader. So as to not give any chances, he used his most powerful Gu right off the bat - the rank-4 Launching Earth Spear Gu. Revered for its devastating speed and mass, was capable of obliterating most Myriad beast kings with a single shot.
But instead of the gu master dodging the attack like expected, he charged forth, colliding with the attack, causing a large explosion that engulfed everyone's vision.
Upon seeing the explosion caused by the attacks the leader recognized it as the Raging Thunderous Combust Gu, a rare rank-5 Gu well known for its incredibly cheap primeval essence usage.
As the smoke cleared, the caravan leader was able to easily detect the enemy's location with his many detection type Gu, but his men were not as fortunate.
Amidst the chaotic aftermath of the explosion, his gu masters were dropping like flies. "Damn it!" the leader cursed, torn between the decision of whether to assist his men or remain in his current favorable position atop to his rank-4 Rock Frog.
As he made up his mind to rush to his men's aid, the caravan leader found them all on the ground, curiously unharmed. This observation piqued his curiosity, and he began to piece together the situation.
"I can tell that you don't wish to hold a deep grudge against us shown by the fact that you chose not to kill my men. How about I offer you a rank-3 Gu as a token of my gratitude, and you can be on your way?" he proposed to the gu master. However, the gu master gave no response. he frowned, thinking about offering a rank-4 Gu, but he quickly threw out that idea, thinking to himself, "I'm from a prosperous clan, and here I am negotiating with demonic cultivator!", He ground his teeth, before yelling, "I will not bring shame to my clan!"
With the gu master approaching, the caravan leader readied his most lethal killer move, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
And as soon as the gu master drew within clear range of his killer move, he attempted to unleash it. However, his concentration was broken by a foreboding whistle sound that sent a shiver down his spine. This distraction caused his killer move to fail, resulting in a critical backlash.
He could feel rocks growing all around his skin. He knew that he was facing certain death as he had never prepared a method to counter the effects of his killer move. However, to his surprise, the enemy gu master approached him, then prevented the rocks from growing any further. Not only that, but he even reversed the process.
As for how it was mostly luck, the killer move caused a backlash that was reminiscent of mushrooms, which typically would need some form of sustenance. In this case, the gu master employed the use of an Exhaust Energy Gu to extract all the primeval essence from the caravan leader's body and the surrounding air, depriving the rocks of their sustenance.
Feeling grateful, the leader was about to thank the gu master when suddenly, his mind became clouded and he fell into a deep slumber.
While the leader was unconscious, the enemy gu master searched through the storage of the Rock Frog, it tried to find him, but couldn't register his presence, and found three Yellow Gold Relic Gu. He then swapped these Gu with three other rank-4 Gu before turning around and walking away.
While traveling the road back from where he came he thought to himself, "It would probably be best if I change my name, wouldn't want anyone to find out what I started here... Xie Ling sounds pretty good."
