The cobra had lived in this realm for so long, eating dust every it's life, but he didn't know his purpose in this world only he knew that the crowned prince's body wasn't his first body to reside for the last a thousand years.

However, the agony it felt seeing the girl's shocked expression after hearing Sue's shouts, he was pained as it almost went rampage.

How can he feel her deepest pain this way?

Snakes don't keep memories so long of their human encounter unless the human was a snake caretaker, but snakes don't associate claws they were enemies with animals possessing claws. But they remember to fulfill their revenge.

He still had questions about how he had appeared in the castle of Vinita Kingdom to save her a few years ago even though he had been scratching his brain for answers. He went ahead befriending her even though women were not his things.

He just had the urge to care for and protect her, but love was not there. But seeing her daze expression pained him so much.

It has been a long time looking due reason a as to why, but as time went by, the reason has become a blur and now it seems like a want he was longing for.

Drey caressed her soft black hair and the bruises on her wrist before planting small warm kisses on them. The wounds on her head were still visible as some hair was missing from Sue's clutching when she had tried to jump out of the eighth-floor building.

His grandfather was the only person allowed near her, as he was treating her not even the royal physician, he was allowed to help his grandfather, and nothing else.

He knew he was losing it, every day seeing her unconscious body laying lifelessly on the bed. She had lost so much weight and Drey could even count her visible bones, his grandfather said Kira was exhausted and she lacks sleep but he was feeling dead inside.

His health was no better than Kira's it was deteriorating every other passing day, adding to his strength cultivation was cut short.

Rico approached the King's private chambers and knocked. He waited for Drey's permission to enter. Drey opened and gestured to meet with him at the rooftop, he gave a small nod and left the place.

Drey's footsteps signal his arrival before the two stands together.

"How is Kira holding up?"

Drey let out a heavy sigh, "According to Grandfather she has exhausted her brain and is lacking in strength," he said. "But we only wait for her to wake up sooner or later."

Rico relayed the information to Drey. "You were right about Spark. He was there with his servant, and by now they would have reached Vinita. He said apologetically, "I'm sorry for not acting sooner and allowing Kira to stay there for too long."

"You did everything you could to prevent them from leaving Rivea," Drey acknowledge glancing out at the busy mountainous area. "But at least now we know Jay has returned."

Rico nodded. He gazed into the horizon and turned to Drey asking, "How about your well being Drey?" he knew the King has been doing all of this for the Kingdom.

He had already fathomed the reason he had welcomed the merchants and things weren't going to go well since the King was weakening.

Drey heightened his senses ensuring that no one was near their vicinity before answering,

"I'm exhausted."

"You should take a rest, being near her will also make her recover quickly," suggested Rico, before adding. "There is something else you should know."

The prince's voice thundered through the expansive halls of Vinita Castle, his demand ringing out with a ferocity that made nearby servants scatter. "I must have the Simpson girl back, and I want her returned to me by tomorrow at the latest!"

"Moss," Spark said, turning to his servant. "What news do we have regarding the Simpson girl?"

"Prince Jay," Moss replied, standing a few steps behind Spark. "I'm afraid she's already been taken back to Rivea by their king."

Before Spark could react, a loud crash echoed through the room, causing Moss to jump.

"If that's the case, then my proposal with the merchants is finished," Prince Jay declared, his voice dripping with frustration. He spun on his heel, ready to storm out of the room, but Spark spoke up before he could make his exit.

"Oh, right I've almost forgotten, the annulment is null and void, Prince Jay."

"What do you mean by that?" asked Prince Jay.

"I would say that if you were to go back, you might end up losing to your brother. In the end, both of us desire a wise and analytical individual as our ruler," responded Spark.

As Spark turned on his heel and took three steps away, Prince Jay called out in an impatient voice, "Wait, Sir Spark. Let's discuss this over a cup of tea."

Spark turned around with a smile that he had perfected over the years. "Well, it seems you have a talent for picking sides, Jay," he said.

Prince Jay let out a curse under his breath and began leading the way to his study. "It's not like I have much of a choice," he replied.

Spark continued to press Prince Jay's buttons. "Let's not forget that I saved your life. It seems to me that you owe me a debt of gratitude," he remarked.

Prince Jay clenched his fist in anger and motioned for the soldiers at the doorway to leave. He then strode towards the window and drew the curtains, enveloping the room in darkness. After a moment's pause, he lit a single candle, casting a dim glow around the room.

Sitting comfortably, Spark spoke up. "I heard that Drey Ron Regan has already taken custody of her, and we can't risk losing other merchants just to make you happy."

"What about Cyph?" Prince Jay asked, trying to maintain a calm tone. "And could you please ask your servant to step outside?" he added, pointing at Moss.

"He's not going anywhere. You can say what you need to say in front of him," Spark said, gesturing to the chair next to him for Moss to sit in.
