"Keep an eye on your gear, guys," I called out, trying to maintain a sense of order.

All day that day, innocuous things seemed to go wrong. It wasn't just wrenches that were disappearing; it was tape measures, drills, and even a heavy-duty saw had vanished without a trace. Resolving to look into it later, I turned back to my plans, marking off the completed tasks.
