Chapter 26: The Luna

*Brynn*

When Brynn woke, she was alone.

She pulled one of the furs against her bareness as she sat and searched the small chamber. There was no sign of William, though she noticed some of the candles seemed to have been replaced.

Another of William’s tunics was laid at the bottom edge of fur pile, and Brynn realized he must have left it for her. She stood and quickly pulled it on as the events of the previous day … and night … flooded her mind. There was so much to sort through. So much to process.

She looked at her hands, wondering if perhaps she had somehow imagined the whole thing. She couldn’t truly be a shifter. Could she?

Could it have been real?

Suddenly her eyes fell on the crevice that led out of the chamber. There was nothing blocking it. William had left it open. Torchlight flickered from beyond the crack in the stone.
