Chapter 65

"Before, I was Shannon Stuardz. My mom was a doctor and my father's an artist. As mom is always busy, I am always attached to my dad. He taught me the beauty of art, and how to paint. I had a perfect simple life. It all changed when my mom and dad went on a trip for their anniversary. The pilot was careless and he didn't know about the defects on the engine in the plane. That's where they died in a plane crash. A few survived, including the pilot which was sued by the court with a lot of complaints. I've been living in the orphanage since then. For 3 years. Then Sabrina showed up. She looks like from a rich family and before she took me home, she paid for a plastic surgery on me. She didn't give me time to ask, or even complain. I had to do everything for her. She lived in a luxury apartment downtown and told me about my father and began to badmouth you and your mother. I didn't know anything so I agreed with her and did everything I could to be a perfect daughter for her." Shannon shooked, feeling the guilt.

Amanda was silent.

She'd always thought Shannon was lying.

True, she came from an orphanage. But she didn't know a lot about Shannon until now.

"I used to have loving parents like yours. My dad died before we even saw each other. I only grew up with my mom and grandfather by my side. My mother loved to talk about how great my father was, but everytime she reached the end, she would tear up. Even my grandfather was heartbroken too. Simeon's father pleaded my grandfather to save their company. Although grandfather didn't like it, he took Simeon in. My mother couldn't care much, as long as he doesn't do anything. Simeon was bossy but he never took one look in me. My mother died and there were only two of us. I grew up independently away from him since he wouldn't even give me a single penny as support for my education. I didn't even tell my grandfather about it, either. I wanted to do things alone." Amanda said. Staring at the floor.

"I'm sorry. You grew up without a father's bond. Raised yourself to be independent. I always thought a wealthy man's life was served on a silver platter. I never knew how hard it is to face mental and society problems. They barely had any privacy. One wrong move and you're the front page of Today's News, but that was very brave of you to face them." Shannon said.

"Thanks. You didn't have to feel sorry for me." Amanda sighed,

"Oh."

"What are you gonna do now?" Amanda asked.

"I don't know either. Are you gonna kick me out?" Shannon looked at her.

"Why would I? I'm not that rude!" Amanda laughed,

"Well, you must hate me now. I stole your fiancee, I took advantage of you." Shannon reasoned,

"I enjoyed it really. You were so pitiful." Amanda laughed.
