After abandoning humanity, pain became irrelevant to vampires. And yet, as Ryan gazed at Aiden's sickly complexion and observed his miserable state, he felt extreme pain in his heart.

He did not know whether it was due to his own blood that screamed for help from within Aiden's body, or because he harbored a deep affection for the young man.

He just wanted to pull Aiden into his embrace again, hold him and protect him and never again let him go.

"Don't move," Ryan said when Izabella took a step closer to Alexis.

"I will kill you if you take another step."

Holding onto her bleeding shoulder, Izabella sneered at Ryan.

"And I thought that you would be happy to see him again. Why are you so hard to please, Ryan?"

Alexis laid Aiden's head on his shoulder and pressed a long fingernail against the young man's neck.
