Chasm,Pain and chased.

Yin Zhu changed her clothes in the changing room that was next to the laundry room and then walked out of the changing room her gaze fell on her sister who was busy washing the clothes of those three missies who have dirtied them after getting into a fight with someone.

Yin Zhu rolled her sleeves to help Yin Xia but the latter shook her head, " Don't ..this is the finest silk if you are even the slightest bit harsher with it. It will end up tearing, which is why I am cleaning it magic. It cannot be washed with hands, if you want to help me why don't you go and deliver that basket of dried laundry to the office near the bell tower?"

The clothes that were cleanly folded and ironed clearly belonged to some high-ranking servants. Yin Zhu nodded as she picked up the laundry basket and then balanced it carefully in her arms to make sure that she wouldn't fall on her bottom.

She turned to walk towards the large bell tower that was located at the end of the palace.

While she was heading towards the bell tower, Yin Zhu was looking around carefully, once or twice she would peep inside the bustling rooms to see what was going on inside them, she was acting like a curious cat. As she peeped inside the rooms one after another, Yin Zhu marked each room in her heart and she was able to track down the kitchen, the storage room and the stables including the servant's quarters.

However, Yin Zhu still remembered that she needed to do some work and which was why she quashed her curiosity and then turned her attention back to the bell tower that was only a few feet away. But upon reaching the large bell tower she found out that no one was there, the office that was supposed to be open and functioning was closed and no one was there.

At first Yin Zhu didn't think much of it but when she placed the laundry basket in front of the room, she felt that something was rather weird. Forget about the sound of humans or betas, even the sound of birds and bees was missing, the entire surrounding was dead silent and Yin Zhu who has always been a bit terrified of silence and darkness was a bit uncomfortable. She wanted to leave the laundry basket in front of the office's door and leave this eerie place altogether but then she thought about how the high-ranking servants working here would complain if she was to leave the laundry basket unattended.

However, the silence was so cold and biting.

Yin Zhu rubbed her arms as goosebumps broke all over her arms and then she looked around the surroundings. Why was everything so quiet? She asked in her head but then her question was answered at once.

A terrified scream of a woman rang all over the surrounding causing Yin Zhu to jump three feet in the air. She looked up at the bell tower where the giant Bell was hanging and only then did she notice that a woman dressed in similar clothes except her skirt was navy blue meaning she worked in the kitchen as she was holding a knife in her hand while slashing her free arm and she wasn't doing it quickly. No, she was doing it in a painfully slow manner.

Yin Zhu gulped as she looked at the horrifying sight in front of her and then suddenly she realised why no one was there.

What should I do? Should I run away? She thought in her head as she looked at the maid who was cutting her skin with her own hands. But then her gaze met the woman who was holding the knife, for two seconds both of them stared at each other and then Yin Zhu saw the woman's mouth move.

'Help me.'

Help her? From what?

That was when something happened, a man who was hiding behind the large bell stepped out and turned to look at Yin Zhu. His red eyes were abnormally dark and with her good eyesight, she could see that the man's lips were stained red.

Yin Zhu swallowed the scream that was building in her throat, she didn't even stop to think as she turned on her heels and ran away in the opposite direction because that man standing on the bell tower was none other than the second master. The one who could use the power of pain.

Get away, she has to get away from him.

But then Yin Zhu heard a loud thump behind her and she did the most foolish thing she could have done, she looked over her shoulder. The man has jumped from the Bell tower and behind him was the broken body of the maid who was alive just a few seconds earlier.

Yin Zhu sucked in a breath as the man straightened up, she didn't have the guts to see his face, she was afraid that if she was to look him in the eyes, she will die just like the maid. So, she turned her head and started running mindlessly but because of her clumsy feet, she stumbled once and twice.

By the time she ran out of the dark clearing that overlooked a cliff, the Situ mansion was located on top of a mountain surrounded by trees and wild bushes, so when Yin Zhu saw a cliff sticking out to a chasm, she wasn't surprised.

Yin Zhu fell so many times that she didn't even need the man who could cause pain with just one look in the eye, she was already in so much pain!

As she reached the end of the cliff, Yin Zhu paused and panted with her hands over her knees, she hoped that after watching her fall so many times on her own feet the second young master would stop chasing after her but then she heard the sound of footsteps coming from behind her.

Her thoughts ran wild and then all the haunted imagination that she has been trying so hard to suppress spurred in her head and then she shrieked as she tumbled back.

Yes tumbled back towards the deadly chasm.
