Confusing situation

The base of the third fleet was quickly and efficiently covered in a massive tarp with the standard coral highlands colors in order to blend in. Alex noticed this of course when he took to the air again but he totally ignored it as he flew over in that direction. From the windows of the base many were watching what was obviously an elder dragon approach their location nervously. To their horror Alex landed on top on the base casually which made the wood creak from his weight. Most thought they were merely unlucky that he had landed on their base coincidentally but when he yawned before taking a nap they were in despair.

Clearly he didn't intend to go away anytime soon which left everyone inside the base at a lost as to what they should do. One of the fleets few hunters suggested that they try and lure Alex away with a bow gun in order to solve this problem. It was a decent plan all things considered and since no one else had any ideas it was accepted. The following scene was rather hilarious as the hunter ran out of the base with a massive gun weapon shouting like a lunatic.

Alex just opened his eye long enough to give the man a 'you look like an idiot' look before putting his head down to go back to sleep. The hunter was left speechless at Alex's reaction since it was the equivalent of saying he didn't care what they did. It was a well established fact that save a few most elder dragons were very territorial or cautious of other creature in their area. Unlike what they were expecting however Alex simply chose to ignore them entirely despite them obviously trying to get his attention.

The hunter kept up with his attempts at luring Alex away but all he got for his efforts were funny looks from Alex. Eventually the hunter gave up and returned to the inside of the base with a tired and depressed expression. Seeing how little Alex seemed to care about their presence some of the fleet grew bold and left the base to try and study a bit about this strange elder on their roof. None of them were stupid enough to actually get within striking distance of Alex but the upper balcony that was a mere ten feet below him was used.

The small amount of information they got from observing his body shape and features confused them greatly. The reason for this was that Alex had clearly visible traits from a wide variety of monster types. Powerful muscles and wings from aggressive type monsters , thick smooth scales from defensive type monsters , coloration commonly found in ambush predators and a jaw shape that hinted at both carnivorous and herbivorous teeth. This was only the traits they could clearly see from this distance and none of it made sense. All-rounders simply didn't exist in the food chain of the world as all creatures great or small fell into a particular group.

The wanderer arrived back at the base a couple of hours latter with the still knocked out Zain and handler. She was not surprised at the camo tarp that had been placed over the base however the bright braziers lit outside it being lit confused her. It was only when she looked up at the top of the base that she realized why it was like this. She froze when she made eye contact with Alex who heard her arrive thanks to how loud she was dragging the two behind her.

The wanderer was surprised when it seemed like Alex merely chuckled at her response to him before choosing to ignore her. The suspiciously intelligent mannerisms that Alex displayed confused her greatly but when he made no move even after a couple of people left the base to help her bring in Zain and the handler she chose not to look a gift horse in the mouth. It was only after the handler woke up that the third base learned about his unique existence and why his reactions seemed so human.
