"You threatened Storm the last time you spoke to him. I'm still mad about that if I'm being honest, and I don't feel particularly inclined to help you out. If you think Callum is so dangerous and associated with the Cause, you should convince Storm to help you. With evidence."

Jen opens her mouth to speak, but Aris holds up a hand, eyes flashing amber. "Hold on. Threatened? You threatened my Protector?"

"Your Grace, it was-"

"He threatened to take away Storm's freedom of using magic because he wouldn't give her the information she wanted," I explain, still angry about it.

"How dare you? My Protectors are not under your jurisdiction, officers. None of them are, not even the Pixii, who is a hybrid. You know this. So why did you think you had the right or authority to threaten any of them? We cooperate with you because we want to, and because it makes it easier when we have a problem that affects both our species. But what I will not tolerate is you threatening my Protectors."
