GOOD VILLIAN: Chp1 (Elijah Sees Caroline)

Ever since Klaus Mikaelson returned from Mystic Falls Elijah noticed a difference. It wasn't a small difference. Klaus had reserved himself into the house. And when he left the house, he disappeared for hours.

Disappeared....But doing nothing wrong. Elijah never received complains of his brother dropping bodies. Because he wasn't.

Klaus restarted his painting. And Elijah knew what it meant. Niklaus painting meant something big was coming up. Klaus painted to clear his mind. Klaus was a predator, he had always been one. He used the colors and the canvas to focus on his prey.

Elijah tried as much as he could to find out what was causing Klaus's silence. But to no use. If Klaus wanted to keep a secret, it was kept even from the great Elijah Mikaelson.

Elijah couldn't seem to know what the matter was.

Because the matter was what it was. It was a someone that was bothering Klaus....

Someone was bothering Klaus. Elijah knew that much. That there was a person in the world who could disturb Klaus, and there was nothing Klaus could do about it.

At least not something violent. It wasn't a power fight. Or was it?

Was Klaus planning something??? All of this was driving Elijah paranoid. He had just experienced Klaus's whole life. Being paranoid, not knowing when or where or how….but something was going to explode.

Elijah wanted to know this person. He needed to know this person. He feared that Klaus feared his own life….as he was being discreet. As discreet as Klaus used to be when they were on the run from their father. But…..who? Who was Klaus so concerned about when he himself had seen his father's ashes fall in Mystic Falls.

He had asked Klaus about it, to no avail, since he recieved an answer.

But, one day he saw Klaus going to the mailbox to post some letter.

Letters? It was the 21st Century, nobody wrote letters. He quietly followed him, and took out the letter after Klaus left.

He opened it,

"Dearest Caroline,

I know I have invited you over several times. But, now I thought maybe you couldn't afford it.

So, I am going to enclose a first class ticket for you.

Always at your disposal,

Klaus Mikaelson."

He read it, once, twice, thrice. Elijah read the letter almost fifteen times.

A girl?

Niklaus was so upset about some girl. He was desperate….wasn't he? Klaus had gotten everything he had ever wanted in a thousand years. But a girl.....There hadn't been any girl who wouldn't succumb to his brother's charms.

Who was that girl?

Elijah Mikaelson came back and started to pack.

"What are you doing?" Klaus asked him.

"Nothing." He said quietly, "I have to go somewhere."

"Where?" Klaus eyed him.

"I can't tell you." Elijah had a small case in his hand, "I can't tell you where I am going!"

"Oh…..kay?"

Klaus Mikaelson watched his brother run out of the house as if someone was running after him with a white oak stake.

He shook his head. Just as well. Klaus didn't need a babysitter anyways.

Elijah Mikaelson landed in Mystic Falls with just an address, which he had copied from the letter Klaus was sending to this 'Caroline'. But he had no image of the girl.

He stepped in front of the door, and knocked.

"Hello…."

A seventeen year old stepped out.
