Transmigrator? What did that mean? I am from another world. Of course, there were books in this world that talked about it, but no one actually believes them.
It turns out that it is true and I am one of them. Frank looked puzzled and interested "Father said I need to unlock my memories for my own good. What did he mean by that?" frank thought
Of course, Frank was curious about his memories from the other world; after all, they were his, but he was terrified.
He was afraid that these memories would change him. What if he was an evil person in his previous life?
He didn't want to take the risk, but his father had told him to do it for his own safety. He was hesitating.
But then he thought to himself that he didn't need to do it right now, did he?
"Forget about it for now."
Frank went out to look at the stars. It was night time and stars filled the skies. It was a beautiful sight.
Frank sat down in front of the battle stage's main entrance and stared at the sky until he slept off.
...
morning
"Hey Brother Frank, what are you doing sleeping outside? You'll catch a cold," said one of the cadets. He was a large fellow with huge muscles.
Frank looked at the cadet and nodded.
"I am called Mark," said the cadet.
"Good morning, cadet Mark," said Frank.
Mark frowned and said, "Don't be formal with me, we drank booze together. We are now brothers," said Mark.
"but"
"I don't want to hear it. We are brothers and that's final. Every cadet posted here from Black River City considers you as one of our own. Don't act like a stranger," said Mark.
"Brother Mark," said Frank.
"Good, that's it," Mark laughed loudly.
"brother mark I haven't seen some of my friends, the ones I trained with. Do you know where they are?" Frank inquired.
"Well, Joey and Jake went on a mission because they were bored at the base, so they went on a mission with a senior cadet of ours," Mark explained.
"What about Jack?" Frank looked worried. Mark had purposefully left Jack out.
"That is quite a story, but I shouldn't be the one to tell you anyway," said Mark.
He then added, "He's alright, talk to knuckles."
He then stood up and left.
Frank knew the fatty could take care of himself, so he didn't bother too much. He then stood up and went into the battle stage. He looked around but couldn't find Wang, so he headed for the boiler room. On his way there, he bumped into someone.
"Frank, I was just coming to see you," said cadet knuckles.
We have a little training mission. The one we sent Joey and Jake on, It bore some fruit, so we were heading there to do the hard part," said cadet knuckles.
Frank looked excited. He hadn't left the base for a while, plus there would be action. He couldn't wait to see how he'd fare in the outside world.
"Come with me," said the cadet, knuckles.
On the way, Frank asked Knuckles a couple of questions, like where the fatty jack was. His response was that the fatty ran away and joined the enemy.
Frank was stunned. What enemy was he talking about? He knew that the fatty would never betray them though, his father was an official in the capital city.
We started descending again but soon we passed the boiler room. It was strange that he had never gone down this part. It seemed like there were tunnels everywhere in this base.
We quickly reached another flight of stairs and began ascending them; when Frank first arrived at this base, this type of activity would have been unbearable, but it was now relatively easy.
"Monster wang, I found Frank!" screamed Knuckles as soon as we got out of the tunnel.
There were at least 20 horses around, but only 10 had people on them.
Frank, what are you doing? Where is your weapon? We are going to slaughter some bandits. A voice appeared out of nowhere, but Frank recognized it as sparrow.
Frank looked back at the cadet knuckles. He didn't tell him they were going to fight.
Cadet knuckles was very shameless. He said, "What do you want me to baby you forever? It was your mistake, not mine."
Frank was dumbfounded but could only smile bitterly.
"Come, Frank, take this dagger," Wang said, throwing it to Frank.
Frank caught it and said, "Senior, I have no weapons training."
Wang Ben frowned and glared at cadet knuckles.
"Come on, don't blame me, monster Wang. He was the one who just up and disappeared. Joey and Jake can use them, so it's not my fault," said Knuckles.
"Don't worry, you won't need to fight much. I'll assign knuckles to protect you," said cadet Wang.
Knuckles started complaining he didn't want guard duty. He even asked if Frank could sit this one out, but Wang refused. He soon started begging
"Come on, brother Wang, let one of these guys protect him."
Wang just ignored him.
Frank got on a horse too. Horses were the main means of transportation in this world, so, of course, he knew how to use one.
"There have been bandit pockets spotted in a small village close to Sword Mountain west of here. We have some of our men there doing recon, so everyone grab an extra horse and let us show them that the Black River City boys are a force to be reckoned with," said cadet Wang.
"Move out"
We all started to move slowly in formation.
....
"Damn, how did they find out?"
"How am I supposed to know, huh?"
"God, we need to get out of here."
"Ho ho ho, you're not going anywhere," said a voice in the distance.
"Did you think you could get the drop on us? Let me tell you something, we had our eyes on you the minute you got into the village," said the voice. It was an old man.
"Also the family that harbored you? All dead," said the old man.
He was met with absolute silence.
"Oh, I bet they would be turning in their graves right now, seeing how you care so little about their deaths." The old man laughed.
"Do you want to know how I found you ?" asked the old man.
"You won't speak?"
"Doesn't matter; you're going to die here anyway since you already know who we are," said the old man.
"You got sold out by your own men from your base?" He burst out laughing.
"Isn't it funny you risk your life for a piss of a crap army that sells you out? Come on laugh," he said while thrusting a spear into the prisoner's body. Those prisoners were
Jake and Joey
"If they can betray us, what makes you think they'll be loyal to you?" Joey had a spear in his shoulder but still managed to speak.
Oh you're sorely mistaken. The difference between you and I is that I understand human nature. After saying that, he turned around as if he had said something very insightful.
"Human beings are controlled by benefits. You give a man enough benefits, he would sell his own family, said the old man.
So do you understand now, unless the army can give them more benefits, they will never betray me?" he added.
"You're going to die sooner or later," said Jake.
"We will all die someday," the old man said.
