Chapter 55 Fresh blood

Drip*

The blood dripped from the camel's body as it cried out with agony whilst struggling to live and escape from its torture but no matter how hard it tried, its body froze like a dead animal.

" Hmm, this will do. Although I can't fully summon the God, it should be enough to alert their presence."

Xerxei silently drew the circle on the ground with a cold face. The thing was this wasn't a blood magic circle or any evil magic. It was close to summoning magic which was rare in the whole world due to its strict restrictions and limitations as a magic type.

Firstly summoning magic required either immense mana or a magic medium that can hold the summoned thing in this realm. Secondly, using magic and taming it was two different matters. Therefore it wasn't a guaranteed magic. Even elementals would require high skills to subdue them.

However, he wasn't interested in using his summon as a tamed creature. He was using this as a resort to kill both sides, thinking things might go out of his hand since there were inquisitors among their ranks.

Meanwhile

Licht almost reached the place where Xerxei was hiding and waiting for them. The gloomy sand dunes looked more menacing from the close up and he felt all of his hair was rising from their roots. Moreover, Viktor warned him about the blood magic as he was told this was one of the oldest magics in the world which originated from the age of gods when the world was created.

He also said blood mages were deadly bunches that lived beyond any humans and who knew how long Xerxes had lived. Thus, he warned him to be careful of his magic because living long meant he saw many things and experienced countless events.

" We are here. Stay in your positions."

Rammes got down from his horse, looking at the dune without any expression on his face whilst pulling out his sword. He then gestured for other inquisitors to scatter as he proposed before.

" Good luck!"

The female inquisitor nodded at them, taking her route around the dune.

The remaining people proceeded into the entrance which was made from earth magic. The interior of the dune wasn't complex but they couldn't shake off that bad feeling which kept haunting them since their entrance. It was like they were entering the place where the death was waiting for them.

" Howl!"

Suddenly, Chono growled at the darkness at the end of the corridor where the feeling came strongest. The fishy smell of blood permeated through the air, making their stomach churn from disgust.

" Watch out!"

Daemon stood before Leah, deflecting the blood arrow that was fired from the darkness.

" Xerxei!"

Rammes spat out his name with a cold face, using his power to illuminate the corridor. The hideous face of Xerxei appeared from the darkness as his face seemed to be withered for unknown reasons.

" I never imagined I would meet the hound of the sun. Among the inquisitors, your information is the most secretive yet your identity is the loudest ironically."

Xerxei laughed evilly, showing his claws that were formed from his blood. The walls of the corridor glistered with red letters that were carved from the blood of other living creatures.

" You madman!"

Mikael aimed at his heart, firing two arrows almost instantly but claws of blood instantly deflected them like they were nothing. Moreover, Xerxei seemed to have a third eye, dodging from the magic rifle.

" Blood Pool! Hemofusion!"

Two great blood magic were cast almost simultaneously, causing a huge torrent of blood to come crashing down to their bodies. Furthermore, the blood drop was corrosive enough to rust normal gears into dust in a minute.

" Get out of here!"

Rammes shouted, casting a shield to protect themselves from his attack for a minute. The shield cracked from the immense pressure and power but it was enough to protect them as they quickly left the dune with the haste magic that they had prepared before for the worst.

" It isn't over yet. Another wave is coming!"

Regina spoke loudly, warning them to prepare for the impact as the blood detonated the hill.

The red covered the entire area, dyeing the ground and sky with blasphemy against the gods.
