It's About Time I Stopped This Endless Cycle Of Lovelessness 1

Kika's eyes fluttered open.

She stretched, facepalming herself as the memories of last night were still vivid in her mind. How could she think that? It's not as if they hadn't slept together before, it's just...

Those times it was forced or she would try to seduce him and he would just acquiesce to it because he had nothing to lose.

She scowled. Was she foolishly thinking that he'd changed? Now, she was even more eager to find out what Melody promised him. What could she have offered him to make him treat her so well and even request sleep on the same bed with her without a single dirty thought in his mind?

Luke was still sleeping soundly beside her even though the sun was already up in the sky. She turned around to him and was surprised to see him facing her. They had originally slept with each other's backs to each other.

His face was handsome as usual despite having bed hair. Her gaze dropped to his lips, they looked so tempting. Almost irresistible but Kika had to contain herself because of two reasons.

One, morning breath.

Two, once she kisses him there's no turning back. She won't be able to sign those papers and the vicious cycle of lovelessness would continue.

"I have to put an end to all this..."

Kika muttered while sitting up. Luke's breathing was still slow and steady so he must still be sleeping. She glanced at the digital alarm clock on the table. She didn't bother to set it so it wouldn't disturb Luke's sleep. Kika scowled, she needed to stop being so considerate towards him too.

She slowly moved out from under the sheets. She didn't want to wake him up and her leg wouldn't allow her to do something so violent that would wake him up either. Her hands could, though it'll get other ideas than just tapping on his bare chest.

She sighed shaking her head, how dirty was her mind?

She straightened herself. She had successfully escaped from the bed. With her full weight on both feet, the leg started stinging a little. It had been ten days now, four days left.

"Four days left of Luke being so warm... hahaha... ha."

What was she expecting? It would be a lie if she said she didn't enjoy his company at all. The facade he was putting up really touched her sometimes, it was almost as if it was genuine.

She liked this side of him. It's been a while since her heart moved a little. But... one thing was clear... her feelings for him were starting to change. Who would believe that she was actually starting to like him... less.

To other people, love could be the warm sunlight or even spring. But in her case... it's just "fear".

She tried hard to express them before, but they were never reciprocated. She's too scared to assume anything now. What if she's wrong again?

What exactly did Melody promise him that he would go to such lengths for someone who he couldn't even stand? There was only one way to find out. She took a few steps to her phone that was on the table, grabbed it then turned to look if Luke was still asleep. He was.

She decided it would be best if she called Melody outside the room. She didn't want him to hear their conversation anyway.

She left and leaned on the bannisters of the staircase while searching her contacts for Melody.

"Wait, I should probably text her first to make sure she's not at the courthouse or recording studio."

She swiped upwards to leave the phone app and her phone tipped forward from the overexertion of her thump on the top of the screen.

She was holding it up with one hand so the phone shifted a bit in her hands and before she knew it, it was falling. Not to the floor but from the height at the top of the stairs.

"Oh... no!" Kika gasped.

It bounced three times and finally stopped. The screen was shattered to bits.

"Damnit!"

She tried her best to hurry down to it without putting too much pressure on her legs.

"Did I lose all my data?"

The bits of the screen were all over the place. She really should have listened to Daneliya and gotten a business phone. All her data was in there and she kept postponing backing it up to her hard drive. She really wished she was a magical species right now.

They would be able to fix this, right? With their magic or at least be able to retrieve the data inside.

She picked up the phone with the battered screen. What was she supposed to do now?

"Oh, I forgot. I can't even look up what I'm supposed to do on the internet now. Bummer."

She straightened herself.

"I'll take it to the repair guy. Hopefully, at least some of my data can be restored."

She shrugged as she walked towards the dining room. What did the chef make for breakfast today?

She sat down still looking at her phone and thinking about how she would sneak off to town without Luke knowing.

"Oh... Luke's number is probably gone too..."
