Chapter 57: Persuading the kitten (Edited)

In fact, Professor McGonagall didn't keep Fish waiting long.

As soon as Fish took his seat at dinnertime that evening, Professor McGonagall approached him.

"Fish?", Professor McGonagall greeted him with a smile as she bent down and put her head next to Fish's.

But Fish turned a deaf ear to Professor McGonagall's call, poking and prodding the plate in front of him with a fork, stirring the cut fish.

This depressed Angelina, who was in charge of cutting Fish's food tonight.

"Are you still mad at me?", Professor McGonagall reached out to touch Fish, only for Fish to shake her head and avoid her hand.

Fish snorted, "Hmph!"(〃`3′〃).

"What do you say we have dinner together today?", Professor McGonagall took Fish in her arms and, as she made her way to the teachers' table, she lifted her face and tried to give her a kiss.

Although Fish turned his head away from Professor McGonagall and refused the kiss, he did not refuse her invitation to dine with him.

He had wanted Minerva to cajole him, so he couldn't turn her down completely.

Angelina was even more depressed when the fish she had cut up for Fish was not eaten and taken away by Professor McGonagall without even tasting it.

"Here, Fish, try this," Carrying Fish over to the teachers' table, Professor McGonagall sat him on her lap, then picked up a knife and fork, cut up a small lamb chop and handed it to Fish with a kind face.

Fish snorted, "Hmph!" (〃`3′〃).

Fish turned his head and put his hands to his chest, indicating that he was still angry and not to be easily cajoled.

Professor McGonagall was in no hurry, just smiling, holding her fork and letting the fragrant lamb chop dangle under Fish's nose.

Not that the kitten hadn't had trouble with her in the years since he was adopted, and Professor McGonagall knew exactly the most effective method of coaxing him.

Fish, who was always a nervous boy, had been dampened by the day, so he wasn't so angry anymore, and all she had to do was tempt him with a little food when he was hungry, and Fish would give in.

Professor McGonagall had always mastered how to persuade Fish, especially after she had relaxed her demands towards him, and now she could deal with the naughty little fellow in a more peaceful manner.

After a few moments, Fish, unable to resist the aroma around his nose, opened his eyes slightly and looked at the lamb chop.

But he soon withdrew his gaze.

"Hmph!" (〃`︿′〃)

He wasn't going to give up so easily!

But...it smells so good.... (ˉ﹃ˉ)

Then, he took another look.

And then... he looked again.

"Ahem ... hmmm! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ..." (〃`~′〃).

After looking at the lamb chop under his nose several times, Fish opened his mouth and pulled the chop off the fork with a quick movement, then quickly turned his head, chewing the lamb chop while continuing his "I'm still angry, come cajole me" pose.

Don't spare Minerva, it's just that lamb chops don't taste good when they're cold!

That's it! That's it!

Swallowing the lamb in his mouth, Fish began to look at the food on his plate again, over and over.

Not to disturb him, Professor McGonagall continued to smile as she served herself a variety of Fish's favorite foods and popped them into his mouth.

After being fed about six or seven times, the "never gives up easily" Fish forgot about the morning's events.

"Minerva! Here you go, meow," Fish, who was no longer angry, jabbed her fork into a piece of fried fish and held it up to Professor McGonagall's mouth.

Professor McGonagall opened her mouth to eat with a look of relief, then lowered her head and gave Fish a kiss on the back of the neck in thanks.

This time Fish didn't resist Professor McGonagall's kiss, but instead looked very happy.

"Meow hehehehehehe..." (●≧ω≦●).

Encouraged, Fish used his unskillful inverted grip to pick up several food items from the table with his fork and hand them to Professor McGonagall, who was standing behind him.

"Aww! Fish is so cute."

"If I could eat the food Fish gives me..."

"I'd be happy just to hug him."

Countless little witches put down their knives and forks, stopped eating their dinner and stared at Fish and Professor McGonagall with their cheeks in their hands, wishing they had been there instead.

The boys weren't as dramatic as the girls, but most of them ate and looked toward the teachers' table, and several of the young wizards even accidentally put food up their noses.

It was a great relief to Harry Potter to see Fish and Professor McGonagall enjoying themselves.

Although Fish had stopped being angry with him over his best friend Ron's "betrayal," Harry was worried that if Fish found out the truth, he would hate him again.

Luckily, now that Fish and Professor McGonagall had made up, she no longer had to worry about that.

At the teachers' table, a full Fish returned to his cat form, lying on Professor McGonagall's lap with his little belly exposed, purring comfortably under Professor McGonagall's deft caress.

The little wizards downstairs were stunned again.

"All right, go play," At last, Professor McGonagall stopped coddling Fish and stroked his little tummy, saying softly.

"Meow!"

Fish agreed, jumped off Professor McGonagall's lap and, before anyone could react, was out of the Great Dining Hall, running off somewhere.

When Fish was gone, the young wizards focused on the food in front of them, and many of them ate at a faster pace.

Wandering around after classes to see if they could run into Fish was one of the great pleasures of all three houses, except Gryffindor.

If they were lucky, they could spend the day showing off to their friends.

In contrast, the young wizards of Gryffindor were much more relaxed.

Being from the same house, they had more time to get to know Fish and didn't have to chase chance encounters like the other three houses.

But that didn't include Harry and Ron.

"Hurry up and finish dinner, and while there's still a bit of time left before confinement, let's do our homework first," Ron shooed at Harry as he shoved his food into his mouth, "You'll do the Charms homework and I'll do Herbology."

Harry, who was also eating a meal quickly, didn't question it and nodded his head to show that he knew.

Even though he was soon to be confined, Harry wasn't too upset.

After all, they had beaten the crap out of that nasty Malfoy, which was a plus in every way.

Of course, that naive thought vanished as soon as Harry met Filch.
