THE WATER GODDESS STATUE

The temple was half a day ride. I rode Blue while Kiran rode his brown mare. We stopped to rest and eat, although I could keep on going because of the adrenaline coursing through my body. I was ready to bring the war to Aquarina but Kiran insisted I rested and he watched me like a hawk while I ate. Making sure I finished the roasted hare he had caught and also the raspberries which I had for desert.

Then after that we continued our journey. It was almost evening this time around. During the whole ride I could feel Kiran's gaze on me. But each time I turned, I would find him looking at something else entirely. But when I turn to face forward, I still feel those same eyes on me.

"You know at this rate I'm afraid you are going to burn a hole at the back of my skull." I remarked dryly as I steered blue towards another direction.

Kiran cleared his throat awkwardly behind me. "I have no idea what you are talking about." He muttered under his breath.
