Numerous monks looked on with eyes filled with terror at the enormous painting hanging beside the Buddha statue.

This painting was about nine feet wide and over thirty feet tall.

It cascaded from the very top of the great hall's dome to the ground, where it was held aloft by a lotus stage made of pure gold.
