Nick's feelings

Am not staying here, I need to go back to the world I belonged to, that man called my father is a fool, the worst father I have ever seen my thought drift back to leah, i wonder how she was able to endure all those hell and yet she still want the best for him even if she is not there with him.

How can a father be this mean to his own child?

At that moment, she needed me the most but I was busy having fun with Kellen that I forget at some point that leah is suffering and living in hell and yet she managed to put on those bright smiles.

These feeling, I hate it.

Am no different from my father. I should have take better care of leah when she needed me the most.

"You don't have to go back now, you can cry all you want "

I tried to force a smile but I couldn't, he sigh deeply before patting me on my shoulder.

"I hate them"

"I know how you feel but you can't let your emotions get the best of you"

"I don't care Derrick"

He didn't say a word, I sat down under the oak tree and cried my heart out, how on earth will my mom get over this. It's just too much, the heartbreak is too much for her to move on. 

Am scared of loosing her.

Derrick felt sorry for Nick, he  knew the queen was right when she appoint him, but the sight before him was heartbreaking. He wish Nick's father would apologise to his wife  and also come up with a better excuse in other to make things right.

The little time he spent with Nick, he could tell he is a nice guy and he is longing for his father, he is sure of that, he could see the longing in his eyes when he saw his father and the kids. It was as if he was wishing he was the one there.

"I wish I could be loved too" 

"You will"

"No Derrick, I have already lost a rare gem and now my father too, I was worried over nothing, I wish he could be a good father to me too but its just so unfortunate "

"Since you are friends with the queen, you can talk to her and believe me, the rare gem you lost will be restored to thee"

I laughed at his statement, I couldn't tell him about my feelings for his queen, how can I dare ? The rare gem is already sparkling so bright  that I won't ever get a hold of because it's with another glittering gem

"Your queen won't be able to"

"Try asking"

"Derrick, you shouldn't bother about that"

They spend more than two hours under the oak tree, Nick was able to know more about Derrick, after listening to his story, he realized that there are other people whose pain is greater than his.

"How were you able to survive?"

"My master saved me"

"Your master?"

"The king"

"Ohh, did he save you so that you could be his knight?"

"No, I wanted to repay him so I choose to become a knight"

Looking at Derrick, realizing the pain he has been through, I felt so sorry for him, why is life so unfair. I wonder how he felt when he was sold into slavery by his mother just because she want money.

"What about your father?"

"He died in my arms, I was just seven then, my mother loathes me because I couldn't give her enough money to gamble with, she was so in debt in the end, when I was eight she decide to sell me off but I got lucky, the king rescue me."

"Am sorry you gone through all that, but how come the king look younger than you"

"He doesn't age" smiled

Leah you really got yourself a mystery that will be so difficult to solve. He thought while staring at the leaves the wind was blowing away.

"Where is my son?" Sophie asked 

"He went out with Sir Derrick" the maid attending to her answered

"Am hungry" 

She have been starving herself for some days and now it's as if she could swallow the universe. She no longer care about her husband, she had to live for Nick and she had to plead for mercy for she has sin against God for bearing a false witness and for attempting murder

"Where is your master?"

"He is ..."

She was interrupted by Nick who ran towards them and hug his mother, he was weeping and apologising 

"Mom, please forgive me"

" What is wrong Nick?"

"Mom, let's go back to our world, just you and I, I promise to do better"

She was quiet for sometime before she respond by nodding her head, wrapping her arms around him, he could feel her warmth.

"Let's ask the king for help so we could leave"

"Thank you mother"
