CHAPTER 38

Despite Zary’s protest, Sam made a fire a few steps away from where their car was.

Now here she was, sitting with him on a flat stone. She was comfortably positioned between his legs, and he continued using his body as her personal blanket and draped himself all over her back and shoulders.

He felt so warm and comforting to her right now. The fire before them was their quiet light in this peaceful moment that was only meant for the two of them. No one was around and no one could share in this wonderful slice of time that was only theirs.

The ambience, the silence, the warmth, the starry sky, him there… everything… was perfect. It was like she was camping with him in the middle of the woods. As if they were in the middle of nowhere. Not a single car even passed by to disturb the quietness that seemed to envelop them.
