Predestined Fate

Lin Cian jolted out from his sleep desperately; not realizing the nightmare, he kept on calling her name a few times. It took a few minutes for him to realize he was in the carriage and in front of him was Doaren who was stifling his laugh.

Lin Cian's head had a sharp sense of pain making him hold his head but made no sound to not get embarrassed again. Actually, Lin Cian felt the moments in his dream; with the women were completely true and for some reason, he still feels the same. On the other hand, Doaren who saw the whole scene of his brother sleeping in the carriage and shouting his woman's name was wanting to laugh more and more but he stopped himself to give Lin Cian a face.

Lin Cian realized the state he was in and started to wake up from them but he failed again and again. He couldn't get away from those memories because they were haunting him like a haunt. His body still had the pain of getting crushed, and his heart sank in agony; piercing with its sharp edges. For some reason, his body was fully depleted and was very tense.

He leaned on the wall of the coach and closed his eyes and started to snore in a few seconds. His brother Doaren laughed internally for his brother. He suddenly realized the moments he had with his elder brother when he was young. He thought to himself it's ok for him to blurt her name. After all, Lin Cian was the only person with her in her childhood, and the same for him.

He always had trouble with his sleep throughout the journey so he slept in the morning while the carrier was moving since they were resting at night. He would have many illusions of her saving him, helping him, or being intimate with him. In fact, no matter what he saw in his dream they felt as if they were genuine.

On the seventh day of his journey, they suddenly felt the carrier was moving at high speed only then did they realize there was the lair of a magical beast. Unfortunately for them, it was the soul-reaping beast of a higher realm that cannot be killed by low-level cultivators like Lin Cian and Doaren.

It was the last day before reaching the Sky Making village. The village was located at the end of the valley where it had not have many people to leave in. It was the entrance of the Stargazing academy.

Both men understood the situation but suddenly Lin Cian found that the carrier was moving out of control. When he called out for the coachman there came no reply but the coach was dashing at a high speed. Doaren realized the situation and jumped out and took the leash and started to ride the wagon.

It was a few hours of gambling they had. Doaren didn't look back or check anything behind instead he rode the wagon at a high speed. As the horses were also afraid they were also running non-stop to avoid death. After a day of travel did he realize that it was more than a day, but he haven't reached the Skymaking village.

When Doaren felt a little relaxed, he suddenly remembered something. Did he miss something? Yes, the voice... the voice that forced him to jump to the raider's seat and take the lash of the horses in his hand. He realized only he heard that voice for a short time; it disappeared when he got a good speed. He still couldn't see the Skymaking village.

A pool of sweat covered his hands and his body shivered like crazy. His eyes turned red and his mucus flow through his nose. Drop by drop the tears started to flow from his eyes; he realized what happened. The miracle of escaping from a high-level demon beast is not a miracle or mystery but a sacrifice. When he saw the scene behind him it send a chill into his bones but he couldn't stop the caravan because that's what Lin Cian want him to do.

Doaren couldn't believe what just happened; he used to bully him when young but now... Doaren started to breathe hard. His breath became very heavy as his heart filled with agony and despair. His lacrimal glands overdid their job by secreting the tears as they flowed through his cheeks when he realized what happened.

He saw Lin Cian's dagger was trusted in the side of the wagon and it hold a piece of fabric where there are a few words. It meant one thing, he sacrificed himself for the safety of Doaren. When Doaren saw the dagger he was very angry but he could do nothing because it is too late.

He can't go in search of Lin Cian because he has left his dagger where Doaren's vision is accessible. Doaren can't go because his elder brother wanted him to stay alive; if he disobeyed Lin Cian's sacrifice would be a waste. So he decided not to look back for Lin Cian. He rode his carriage at a full speed towards the Skymaker village.

***

A few hours earlier.

Lin Cian's breath was heard through the entire place as he unconsciously gasped for air. His heart pounded at a very high speed where he couldn't differentiate between two separate pulses. He deliberately jumped off from the caravan to let Doaren escape from the monstrous creature in front of him.

He could do nothing other than curse him for not being powerful. In a second he used his dodge skill and sprang back where there was a huge spike-like structure that was very framing, but it was joined to a body where it looked like a huge monster with a dark purple color body.

The leg itself had a height of three meters, and the whole body of the huge spider had a diameter of two-meter when folding all its legs. Without wasting a minute Lin Cian ran the sideways because these kinds of beasts have a high level of intelligence as well as reflex and speed. So Lin Cian neither run facing the beast's head nor did he run to Doaren. He runs to the right.
