[Chapter:38][Power levelling Old Jack(2)]

*weng!*

The surrounding air shimmered and shook as large amounts of Life Force and Spirit Power alike coalesced around old Jack's figure.

The racket even made Tang San and Ah Yin, who were talking on the other side of the plant-moon, quickly run towards them. Well, Tang San had to run around the circumference of a small-sized moon while Ah Yin simply disappeared, reappearing next to Al.

"What's going on here!?"

And the first thing she saw, was the scene of horrendous amounts of energy being emitted by her 'host' of sorts, exchanging between himself and said host's 'daughter' whom she had come to love to pamper quite a bit, before slowly yet surely forming what appeared to be an illusory ring.

"That's-!?"

((Shh.))

Her sister in all but blood Ella's voice shushed her.

((Don't disturb them, they are making history here.))

Ah Yin blinked as she nodded, her worries calming down as she realised Al and Ai were safe. How did she know?

Based on what she experienced the past three months, if something even remotely dangerous was about to occur with Al being concerned, his 'Tsundere lover' as he liked to call her, Ella, would go ballistic.

Sometimes Ah Yin thinks her sister Ella was more of a 'Yandere' than a Tsundere, though she never expressed her thoughts.

It was scary how she reacted when those seniors from the paying student section tried to bully him, even knowing he could rip them apart with ease.

'If she isn't worried, nothing bad would happen.'

And indeed, nothing did. The Author wasn't one for jinxes and flags, so all went well and soon enough…

"…they…actually made…a 100,000 year old Soul Ring?"

Ah Yin, and Tang San who had just arrived, panting and wheezing as though he had just run a marathon which was pretty much what he did, widened their eyes in disbelief as they looked at the bright, shimmering crimson ring.

The ring wasn't too bright, yet the two felt like it blinded their eyes with its radiance.

"This…"

"Incredible…"

Tang San was better, as despite learning a lot of knowledge about Soul Rings from the Spirit Hall, he was, after all, new to being a Spirit Master. Or rather, he isn't even considered a proper Spirit Master yet.

Ah Yin, on the other hand, who knew just how incredible the sight before her was, simply couldn't calm down.

"Grandpa, grit your teeth."

Old Jack nodded as he prepared himself for the pain…

"Nah, just kidding."

He suddenly chuckled as the old man felt as though he lost part of his sensations.

"I just overloaded your pain receptors with life force, 'killing' them for a while. It's ironic, really, how too much 'life' can cause 'death' instead."

The old villager blinked before chuckling lightly, rather used to his grandson going against all kinds of norms and common sense. Then, he closed his eyes and concentrated as he pulled the red Soul a ring into himself.

"No need to bother about the Spirit Shock. That thing is literally made of a chunk of my Soul, the spirit inside is still me."

And indeed, in old Jack's surprised gaze, an illusory phantom of Al appeared in his Spirit Realm, before grinning at him.

"Come on, I'll help you speed things up a little."

Old Jack nodded wordlessly, and the two then proceeded to fully integrate the red Soul Ring with old Jack's body and Spirit. And soon enough…

*weng!*

Tumultuous waves of Spirit Power gushed from old Jack as a harmless Carrot, surrounded by terrifying Soul Rings, appeared before him.

"Black, black, black, black, black…and red. What a ridiculous Spirit Emperor."

As she muttered so, however, Ah Yin glanced at the young man, no, young boy who made this all possible, and smiled lightly.

"Well, it's actually pretty normal compared to someone else…"

Shaking her head, she continued looking at them from afar as a faint trace of Hope appeared in her heart.

A hope for a future where humans and Soul Beasts no longer needed to see each other as enemies. A future where she could freely…

*cough* *cough*

'Bad Ah Yin! Control your thoughts!'

Tang San looked at his blushing mother curiously, then looked at his 'brother', and his face soon turned strange.

'Brother…you won't suddenly ask me to call you Daddy, will you…?'

Somehow, Tang San felt like such a day wasn't too far away…

'If so…what should I do then…?'

Tang San suddenly realised he might be facing the greatest dilemma in both his lifetimes…

'Brother…or Daddy…that is the question…'

((…))

Ella, who had free access to not only his but the thoughts of everyone connected in any way to the System, felt speechless.

((What the hell is wrong with this ex-protagonist…))
