Chapter 38 - Monsters Arrival

"Okay, we won't inquire more about the supposedly monster girl's situation. But how about these two unknown people that you brought here?" Nezu brushed off the conversation about Dominique S. aside and then glanced at Ei and Shenhe.

"What do you want to know about them?" Kenjiki asked, while glancing at Midnight who was still bewildered.

"Are they trustworthy? We had someone attacking our students right after you got here." Nezu asked straightforwardly, causing the teachers to look at him in surprise.

"That girl? She already retreated with her friends because Ei had threatened them." Kenjiki briefly explained while pointing at Ei who had her eyes closed.

Nezu just smiled and inwardly sighed as he was just testing him, and didn't expect him to actually know about it too. Because they shouldn't have been able to spy on them, yet, because Nagant hadn't given them the watch when the students were attacked.

This caused him to remember that Nagant could place a device near them when no outsider was present, causing him to wonder if there were moles in the ranks of the teachers.

If that's true, then he should have sped up the mole-sweeping project and cleared any traitor from the school before he could even ensure the safety of the students from external threats such as villains and the newest hot topics like monsters.

While his brain was getting overclocked thinking for a feasible solution, he had picked a vague amused smile from Kenjiki's face as if he was laughing at his reaction.

"You seem to know who they are?" Nezu gambled and asked.

"Whew… Here I thought no one would notice. Well, they call themselves the League of Villains with the leader being a dude called Tomura Shigaraki. As far as I know, they sent 3 scouts here, including the one that attacked your students." Kenjiki easily told them the information that had no value for him who knew the big boss himself.

Aizawa who was watching the conversation from the side frowned when he heard the name, remembering the handies guy that commanded a bunch of low-level villains to attack him and his students when they were going to train their rescuing skills.

He immediately whispered to Nezu what he knew about Tomura Shigaraki, refreshing the mouse's memory about him.

"Looks like they're set to bring us down." Nezu massaged his temples in exhaustion.

"Well, you guys are the fattest target in the area." Kenjiki shrugged. "Anyway, you won't be able to root out the League of Villains without someone on the same level as All Might or even stronger. That's my only advice for you guys."

Everyone looked at him when he said that, causing them to wonder if he knew all about them but didn't bother to tell them any important information, or if he was a traitor.

But they didn't want to say it, because they knew how big of a behemoth Nagant was in the heroic industry and if they were to mess with her child, then who knew what she would do.

"Welp, that's that." Kenjiki wanted to end the conversation when he felt one of the alarms he had set was triggered. "Are there people who supposedly arrive now?"

"All Might is the only teacher who isn't here, but he isn't supposed to arrive until the 5th day. Why?" Midnight said with a hint of confusion on her face.

"Someone… No, a bunch of living things came here, from the sea." Kenjiki said, confusing everyone there. "Monsters to be exact."

What followed was Ragdoll changing the location of her quirk towards the sea to confirm whether what he said was true or not. The scenery that awaited her was that of a bunch of humanoid creatures with fish attributes swimming in a group.

Once they confirmed the threat, Mandalay used her quirk; Telepath, to talk with the students who were training near the shore to evacuate into their living quarters until further notice.

A sigh could be heard at that moment and everyone saw Kenjiki looking at them with an expression that seemed to say 'Really?'.

"What's the point for the future hero to fall back in the face of monsters when they're trained for just this one moment." Kenjiki elaborated. "If it keeps going like this, there will be even more people defecting to UC."

Nezu was silent for a moment after he heard what Kenjiki had said. While it was true that preventing the students from acting by themselves would stockpile the pent-up dissatisfaction inside them, it wasn't a good idea if even one of them would be injured.

Those nasty media would swing the narrative around just for the chance to get a good headline, which at the same time fueled the citizens' dissatisfaction with the heroes lately.

It was at this moment he remembered something, he asked Aizawa to raise his watch towards him.

"Is it true that you can ensure the safety of all of the students?" Nezu spoke to the watch.

(A/N: I changed the way to write a dialogue that came from an electronic device, or at least a long-distance communication.)

[I can, but the requirement for it to activate was for the wearer to be inflicted by a fatal injury. Think of this as real training for the students. From what I can see, there are even more monsters approaching the camp.] Nagant's voice came out of the watch, reassuring the principal that none of his students would die.

With that, Nezu asked Mandalay to relay a message to every student.

"There's a change of plan. The students are allowed to engage with the monsters with one requirement: don't fight to the death and preserve your own lives." Mandalay relayed the messages to the students who were gathered in their living quarters.

"Don't slack, I will be watching the show from far away." Kenjiki picked everyone aside from his women with his mana and threw them to the front line. "Is there a dragon-level monster coming?"

[I don't know yet, only demon-level threats could be seen on land for now.] Nagant said and turned off their connection a moment later.

"Do you want to watch a show?" Kenjiki looked to his side and asked the obviously bored Kyoka.

Boredom had assaulted the whole time Kenjiki was talking with the teachers, at first she wanted to say something at least. But the sheer tension they emitted confused her about whether it was the right choice to say something and she ended up being silent.

Weirdly, she had also tried to meditate like Ei who was sitting in a lotus position on the sofa and seemed to be unbothered by the huge group of people entering the house. But she didn't know whether she didn't have the talent to do so or the fact that her quirk amplified her hearing, she couldn't even calm her mind without hearing a giggle going around beside her.

"Is it real fights?" Kyoka knew what he meant by a show.

Kenjiki just shrugged and flew out of the building as he waited for Kyoka to catch up with him before they ascended to a higher altitude. But they intentionally slowed their flight and just enjoyed the view while waiting for the fights to actually happen.

Upon hearing Mandalay's voice about letting them engage the monsters, everyone changed into their hero costume that Aizawa had told them to prepare somewhere within the list.

The fastest ones to change the costumes were three people, Kirishima the red spiky-haired boy, Kaminary the sparky-haired boy, and a short purple guy.

"Can we actually fight against them? I heard that even pro heroes can't win against one of them without exerting all of their strength." A short guy called Mineta shivered as he thought about the appearance of the monsters he had seen on TV.

"What's there to be afraid of? If we can win, then just fight until we win." Kirishima grinned ear to ear as he bashed his fists against each other.

"Don't forget about the order to not fight to the death. Also, not everyone had to fight in the front line." Kaminari approached them and reminded the hot-blooded Kirishima about the not dying part.

They talked about the possible monsters that might appear, knowing that if they were to face a Demon-level monster it would only result in them sleeping for eternity.

Along the line, Midoriya suddenly came by and explained that it was because the monsters came from the sea. Then most likely the monsters were walking fishes that could spit water.

"Fish that spits water??" Mineta raised his eyebrows at that theory but he instantly gained confidence as he didn't think that fighting a fish on land would be that hard.
