The rise 41

I didn't know what she meant. I couldn't believe her words too. I was not an important person and never felt like one as well. But she seems to know something about me. She has given me several signals, from hinting about my mission and also lycans turning to their old ways. I didn't know there was a different way to live for lycans. I have seen several Lycans by this time. Majority wastes time by drinking and enjoying women a few train and fight. But they all seem to think that they were superior to all but if it was the case why do they feel the need to take us. I'm sure they get enough ego boosts without having to take human girls and treat them as objects.

I attended the practice and did my usual training, it was becoming a boring routine for me. I know that I have spent too much time sharpening my weapon when I should be fighting. I was tired of waiting out for an opening I knew I need something to work on or I will go mad. When I went to eat I saw Mina there I waved at her relieved that I don't have to be alone anymore. My aunt wasn't there so I was secretly happy. She does not approve of my friendship with Mina. I know she was afraid for my life. She doesn't trust my friend because she doesn't know her as I do.

She whispered in my ear that she needs to talk ft o me. I nodded my head in response. I didn't know what she wants to say but I knew it couldn't be something that she can say in front of others. I quickly finished my food and followed Mina to the washroom. When I opened the door I saw two girls intertwined and kissing each other with passion. They broke apart on seeing us and fled the room.

"I'm really sad that they had to go away because of us", I said.

" In another world where no Lycans are ruling over them, they could have stayed together", she said. I sighed but it was only a distant dream this is our reality and our future if we don't take any effort to change it.

"I have bought you here so you could see this", she said giving me a rolled piece of paper. I opened it carefully and scanned its contents. It looked like a newspaper article and looked only days old.

" There was a fire in the components building. The fire was dangerous and had to call the military to stop it. A poster was found from a nearby building indicating Human Liberation Army's involvement. The chief commander and prince weren't available for comment. But this is the fourth time they have pulled something like this big. There were rumours that they are aiding human women and children on the west coast. So far no action is taken place to quash this threat".

"What's is this? Why are you giving me this?", I asked her?

" Mara if these people have managed to pull something like this. I'm sure they can help us to kill Igor", she said.

"But where are they? How can we contact them? How can we trust them?" I ask these questions mostly to myself?

"I don't know but at least we know a name. I'm sure we can contact them in some ways. I will try to find out more through Ramiz. But I can't promise. What about Lucien? He must know things being a prince and commander.

" I don't have much contact with Lucien these days. We fought recently", I told her.

"Oh! Never mind he will come around. But keep your eyes open maybe they are trying to contact you. We just don't know yet," she said.

" I will ask my aunt maybe she knows ", I said dutifully.

" I thought this may help you Mara but I now know that it did not. I'm sorry", she said.

"No, don't be sorry this is an excellent start. I will look into it. Thanks for talking to me about this", I told her. She smiled at me a little sad. I could sense that something was wrong.

" He is going to get married, Mara. I have given him everything but I will end up alone or worse with another Lycan", she shuddered while saying this.

"He said he got a proposal from a lady. He says it's not at all romantic but practical. He wants a child and a relationship. He thinks I'm not interested in the long term", said Mira. I felt really sad hearing this.

" What did you say in response?", I asked her.

She looked down guiltily and said," I said you can marry anyone you want. I don't care about you that way,".

"You said that it was a pretty heartless thing to say", I told her.

" But it was him who started this wedding and commitment talk. I couldn't bear it so I said I would not like a guy to talk about this and he said this", a few tears escaped her eyes.

"I know how much Ramiz cares about you," I assured her.

"He thinks I was distant and cold lately. I'm doing this so he doesn't get hurt. But he goes on and hurts me", she said. I now understood the situation better.

" I think he was only trying to get your attraction. I don't think he means it when he said he is going to marry another woman. I know you love him. You must confess it to him without wasting time", I told her.

"I would like but I'm afraid then I won't be able to give my hundred per cent to our mission", she said.

" I don't want your hundred per cent. One per cent is also fine. I want you to be my friend first not some informer or ninja. Just be yourself and we will get through", I told her.

"Thanks for the advice, Mara. I will do as you asked. But I want you to come to me if there is any problem", she said.

" If I don't come to you who will I go to?", I asked her. She pushed me playfully and then hugged me. I felt happier and optimistic about the future. I know together we got this.
