Chapter 25

Jake then heard a whistle. Then a scream and a loud thump. Someone had been struck by an arrow and fallen off their platform. Some people were trying to jump, but without their sight missed completely and crashed into the ground. Jake just stood there and listened. His most recent craft required a lot of precision and concentration, and this was no different. He felt the air around him, and how sound was affecting it. His dexterity was raising his senses, and with lucky stats he had gained an extra 11 he was more than capable of feeling and hearing everything around him.

He kept telling himself. Then a whistling arrow came toward him. He knew it was coming, so he loosened his body and prepared to catch it. For an arrow, it was moving pretty slow and his body was accustomed to taking a beating at this point. His feet planted down and with one swift movement he grabbed the arrow out of the sky with his claws.

[You Have Learned Spatial Reconstruction]

[Spatial Reconstruction]

Make a complete recreation of the 5 foot area around you in your head.

(Does not require any senses to create)

Spatial reconstruction wasn't a battle skill, and would be very useful for any craftsmen so he was able to get it even with his class skills only restriction. He couldn't feel far enough to see any sides, but he did have a few options of places to jump, and if he just kept going forward he would eventually make it to another side. He made sure to dodge the arrows and jump quickly between pillars, making it to an edge in a little under a minute.

When he made it out of the arena, the blindness spell wore off and he could finally stop paying attention to the arrows flying around. He could still feel them as his new passive couldn't be turned off, but he was quickly getting used to his sixth sense.

Professor James then gave everyone who passed a card as a reward.

[Dungen Card][LV 1][10 Points]

"Everyone in this class will earn one soon enough, when I think you are ready for real dungeons. To enter a dungeon on campus one must spend points. You can buy points with money, but most of them will come from exchanging materials you earn in dungeons. You can also use points to buy dungeon materials or weapons found in dungeons. You will all get five points on each card, but for passing you two get ten."

It was an important thing to get, especially so he could take on groups at a time instead of one on one which was super slow. On the other hand it was dangerous to go alone, and he wasn't all that strong so death was a real possibility. He decided not to take the risk until one or two of his classmates got their cards so he could go with them. James used his earth magic to bring back the coliseum floor before talking again.

"You guys know what's up next… Tournament Ark!"

This guy was clearly watching too much anime.

"Now everyone get in two lines so we can start."

Everyone got in line and stared at their opponents. The boy directly across from him wasn't someone who he remembered, but he carried a handgun and was wearing only light armor so he was definitely a marksman with a focus on mobility. Handguns had great mobility and damage but sacrificed their range for it. He was also the other student who passed the blind test so he had to at least be a little bit strong.

The first battle was Jaylen vs Lexy. She was an air mage, which was generally considered the weakest of the base elements. After Jaylen summoned her skeletons, Lexy immediately swept her entire team with a wind blade and used another to knock Jaylen over. She was then given her dungen card for winning so quickly.

Jake was up next. He didn't know what to expect, but was ready for it anyway. The moment the timer started Jake's opponent activated a skill that made him untraceably fast, and began running around him and firing bullets from all angles. Soon enough, he was once again being juggled by his opponents. His rounds were explosive rather than having their regular penetrating effect, so whenever he would get close to the ground he would get shot back again.

He couldn't use any ranged skill because they would get dodged and he couldn't get close enough to a melee attack so he was completely trapped. His vitality was high, but when he was eventually let down he didn't have the strength to stand. He passed out for only a second, and transferred worlds. He was healed by another student right after he passed out, but it was already too late and he was in the smithy again.

The day had just begun, but he decided not to open the shop for a bit. He had something really important to do before he could give his attention to anything else, and that was cultivating. He had gained a mountain of mana since he had last tried to increase it, so he didn't expect to have any trouble.

He then began to meditate, putting on all of his equipment. The pool was a little bit larger than Jake had anticipated, but with all his new power he was confident in his abilities. He prepared his mind, and took a plunge into the pool of pure ki and pain. His body was being ripped apart, nerve from nerve, limb from limb. In the past it felt like he was slowly being killed, but this time it felt like he was truly dieing. Blood was flowing out of every hole in Jake's body, mixing in with the ki.

He was using all of his spells and abilities, trying to finish as soon as possible, but it wouldn't end. It felt like hours before he finished, collapsing on the floor directly after.
