Follow the Trail

After walking for about another half an hour, one of the soldiers waved at the others and shouted, "Everyone, there's a trail of footprints and…" he hesitated to say that another word but said it anyway, "… and some blood."

Natalia froze on her track when she heard the word 'blood' from that soldier. "Blood… what if… what if something already happened to my dad?" she thought to herself. And without even realizing it, streams of tears were already running down her cheeks.

Liam saw how distraught she was just from hearing those words so he ran to her side and held her tightly. He didn't want her to go into shock again. So he whispered consoling words to her in an attempt to calm down her nerves, "It can be from the animals. I am sure David is fine."
