But I'm not going to be locking the book yet. Maybe by late August or early September. I want to try and give you guys more chapters. But you can still gift the book if you'd like. " What? " he had to be joking. " My Lord. You very well know what the princess is like. Her pride, it's a part of her, even her father does not question her. "

" Alina, when people get out of control, it can be problematic and I do not like problems. If I can't control her she might as well kiss any help from me goodbye. Do you wish for her to mistakenly get killed? I have rules here and they must be obeyed. " he said clearly. " One of my maids died during the last full moon. She decided she wanted to play seductress and defied my rules. It cost her her life. " Kieran said standing up. " I'm not sure your princess's pride will allow her to bend to my rules. If she agrees, I'll gladly offer my help. Am I understood? "

" Yes, your majesty. "

Alina wondered how she was going to get the princess to agree.

Humble indeed, this would surely cause heads to roll.

" Follow me, " Kieran said to her as he walked past her. He took her through the corridors which were empty at this time of the night.

It was twilight and the servants were fast asleep.

Kieran felt Karan weave through the air. If it were any other night he would have gone flying but the full moon was fast approaching. He had three weeks left until then. For now he had to find a cure, he refused to bow to a will that was not his own.

As they walked down the halls, their footsteps light, Dimitri appeared from the shadows joining them. The door to the art room opened before they got there and closed behind them as soon as they entered. They walked past countless pictures of the different kingdoms, past kings and queens of Shadow's Kiss graced the walls. All protected by glass. The portrait they stopped at was that of Kieran and it shifted as if sensing his very presence.

Alina was not shocked. Several times before they had taken this route to the testing rooms.

Walls shifted and soon they found themselves walking down stairs that spiraled on. The air in the art room, which had been cool, gradually became warmer.

They came to a door which opened on their arrival just like every other door which they had passed. But this time, a faceless hooded creature stood before them. It bowed and moved away, letting them through. If not for the lack of face it could have been mistaken for human. But it was not. It was a Shadow. It could not speak but was as strong as the purest vampire bloodlines. They were known to obey the vampire king's every command and just like the king, magic did not work on them.

They passed through different rooms with creatures of different sorts. Their voices could be heard as they talked amongst themselves.

There were Faeries, some in human form and others in their true form, a tiny speck of colored light which showed the fairy's ability.

There were Elves as well and when one turned to them, it's red colored pupils could be seen, half elf half vampire also known as a Velvrin.

There were also humans and other other mixed creatures. The king had willingly given them a place in his kingdom, a roof over their heads, ends meet and in exchange his trust would not be broken.

They knew what it meant to break king Kieran's trust. When he collected the debt owed, he could very well be compared to the devil.

At last they walked past those rooms. The hall they passed through grew even more quiet, almost as if leaving behind the calm and peace for something more sinister.

Alina wondered why they had walked past the testing rooms to this part of the dungeon.

The first cry came to them. It was animalistic, insane and filled with pain.

The door opened and a vampire moved towards them with speed, eyes with red veins bulging within them and their pupils completely red.

Alina felt her heart drop to the floor as she watched her life flash before her but the vampire stopped as a result of the silver chains holding him down and dropped to the ground howling in pain.

Alina was confused as to what was going on. Why did the king keep a deranged vampire here? Oh God she hoped it was not what she was thinking.

Two other vampires came from within the cell and pulled the vampire back in.

" Kieran what have you done? " she asked, dropping all formalities between them as she looked at him in horror.

" He was caught drinking two little girls dry. So I tried the potion on him. It caused him to become deranged. None of the potions we've tried so far have worked. They always make my condition worse. " he said calmly, clearly not bothered by Alina's hysterical attitude.

" But still he is a living creature! Do you know what that could do to me? I don't care about how you punish those who break the laws of your kingdom but don't involve my spells and potions or spells in such. I refuse to become a dark witch because of your carelessness! " she said hotly.

A part of her wanted to gorge his eyes out. How dare he? He knew that if a white witch took the life of a living creature, she would become a dark witch. Only the dark witches could be killed without repercussions. There were no exemptions in their law.

" The last thing that I can ever be called is careless, Alina. " Kieran said with his tone unchanging. " Even with having to live with this curse, I have never been careless. Even if the potion does kill him, it would have nothing to do with you. I never asked for your permission. " Kieran moved closer to the vampire who wanted a piece of him. " But then again he's suffered enough. It's time I end his suffering. " he said with a smile.

The vampire looked into his eyes and found himself kneeling before Kieran unable to control himself. Still that urge, that craving to get to him and drink his blood was there. But no matter how hard he fought within himself, his body was no longer his to control.

Kieran placed his hand on his chest and with an eerie smile ripped his heart out, killing the vampire. The heart shriveled up and turned to dust.

And Alina shivered in fear. The very same way she felt when she had watched the princess execute a prince who had been sent to assassinate her father.

Both were dark and sinister, would they be good for each other or destroy themselves?

I'll try putting this in as an auxiliary chapter so people can refer to it. It will be a dictionary for the book.

Important story facts

★ A moon blessed witch is one who has been blessed with magical powers by the moon goddess. They have the marking of the white moon on their body. They are strongest at the time of the full moon. They can create portals whenever they like but it weakens them. They can become dark witches if they take the life of any living creature except the dark witches. They can become dark witches if they accept the darkness within them with a particular dark spell ( still thinking of a better name. ) They can become dark witches if they use dark spells that involve the use of blood of other living creatures. P.S there are light spells that involve the use of blood but it's usually binding spells. I will explain as we go on

★ A dark witch is one who harnesses her powers from darkness and blood rituals. There are dark witches with a dark moon on their body as a result of changing to dark witches from moon blessed witches ( I might call them the witches with the dark moon). There are dark witches with no moon, these were turned to dark witches by the very first dark witch Sheeba.

★ A sorcerer or sorceress is one who has magical powers although not from the moon goddess. They were simply born with them as gifts and can pass it on to their children unlike the moon blessed witch and the dark witch. Although, it may sometimes skip a generation.

★ The moon kissed witch is a witch who was prophesied to come into existence on the rise of the seventh golden moon when the world would need her. She would be the most powerful moon blessed witch. But if she were to turn to the dark side, it would mean the destruction of every creature.

★ Faeries, Fae, Fay Feyblood. They are creatures of nature who in their true form are tiny specks of light. Each one's color shows it's power.

The white colored faerie is the queen and she manifests all the powers of the different colors. If the queen dies, all the maidens of twenty and below go into hibernation and whoever changes her color to white becomes the next fae queen. They can change to human forms and are known to stay away from the other creatures apart from the vampires.

★ Elves. They are the tallest creatures who can resist the power of sleep. They can stay awake for months. Spells and certain magic does not work on them. They cannot be turned into vampires.

★ Velvrin. These are half elves and half vampires. They are born from Elvin and vampire heritage. They have the strength of vampires, they have the ability to smell the slightest things and hear the smallest sounds just like vampires. Spells do not work on them as well.

★ Shadows. Lifeless, faceless beings who obey only Kieran and have the strength of vampires. Magic does not work on them and they can only be vanquished by dark magic. Although it is very difficult to do so. They can choose to be seen by or hide their presence.

★ Deranged vampires. They have a network of bulging red veins in their eyes leading to their pupil which is red like that of normal vampires unlike Kieran who has purple pupils edged with red around it.
