Chapter 48

Dylan hasn't even talked to Finn, Haley, or me for an entire week. He's been avoiding me like the plague.

I decided to be the alpha I am and just take his little ass and talk to him. I was in a corner and I pulled him in.

"You better sit and listen." I say

He started to walk away. I roared at him. He turned his ass right around and sat on the ground.

"Good." I say, "You are going to act like you are apart of a pack real soon... Dylan I understand this is new, but there are teams from other schools that come here... You need to control your wolf or you can get kicked off the team faster than you can blink." I say

"Why should I listen to you? I just moved here and your way of welcoming me to town is biting me? Excuse me but I have class." He said

He walked away. Stephen walked up to me obviously had seen what had just happened.

"How's the beta?" Stephen asked

"Defiant as ever." I sigh

"Well you just gotta show who's boss." He said

"How?" I ask

"Your the alpha show him he's the beta don't let hom overpower you, Evelyn tried that shit with me... Now she's my loyal beta who's there in the blink of an eye." Stephen said

"How'd you do it?" I ask

"She tried to fight me, I took her head on... Broke a couple bones but she finally realized that she couldn't win unless she was on my side." He said

"I'm pretty sure Dylan is all for avoiding me, so what do I do?" I ask

"Don't worry, he will come crawling as soon as the first hardship breaks." He says

"Stephen, quick question." I say

"Yeah?" He asked

"If Ben was Theo's brother why isn't he alpha?" I ask

"He didn't want that kind of responsibility, he still has the alphaizim though he's just waiting for someone worthy to give it to." Stephen said

"Why not Killian?" I ask

"Killian isn't a werewolf he's a warlock." Stephen said

Stephen leaves and I walk to my class. The school day ends and I walk home. Jackson is sitting on the couch.

"I know you've been busy with your new beta and all and I don't wanna come off as selfish but I miss hanging out with you and I see that, I can't be a priority right now and I'm okay with that... So I'm breaking up with you Adena." He said

I stood there. Still trying to comprehend what had just come out of his mouth. I was breathless. How could he be so... Nice and unhateable at this moment. I had no clue what to say at all. So all I said was,

"Okay."

He looked at me, puzzled I assumed. Because at this moment I was as well. I did know what to say so I said the thing that could possibly be the worst thing to say.

"Okay?" He asked

"Jackson, I have no clue what to say... So I just said okay." I say

"Okay." He said

He patted the couch in the space next to him. I sat down.

"Still friends?" He asked

"Yeah... But I think what your more worried about is if you can still stay here." I say

"Yeah." He says

"You and Finn can still stay but your moving out of my room though." I say

He put his arms around me and hugged me.

"I will always still love you, no matter what." He said

Wait... You just broke up with me? Now you say this? Can you be anymore confusing?

I returned the hug. A couple minutes later I got up and started dinner for the five of us. Meaning Julian, Jackson, Myles, Finn, and I.

Normally Julian helps in the kitchen but today he started his job at the local paper. I'm not sure exactly what he does but he gets paid. And I'm not gonna question it.

Myles got a job too. He works at the cafe downtown. Jackson hasn't gotten a job yet but he's been looking. I suggested working at the vet but he didn't want to.

I feel like a housewife cooking by myself while the men are out working. Finn walked into the kitchen.

"Anything I can do to help?" He asked

"Can you get me the bacon?" I asked

"Sure." he said

"Okay I need you to take it out of the package and put it on a pan for me." I said

"Whatcha making?" He asked

"I'm making chicken Alfredo with noodles along with bacon bits on top... Pinterest is my best friend." I replied

"Sound good!" He smiled

"I just hope it tastes as good as it sounds." I laugh

"Me too, I'll be very disappointed otherwise." Finn said

By the time Julian and Myles get home dinner has a couple minutes left. Julian set the table and Myles got out the drinks.

"Adena, do you think there's enough to invite Lola over?" asked Julian

"Yeah." I say

"Cool." Julian says

I bring out the food on the table with a kitchen towel underneath it. Soon enough there's a knock at the door. Julian ran to it and let Lola in. We all sat down and ate.

"This is good Adena." Jackson said

"Thanks." I say

Knock... Knock knock

"Expecting anyone?" I ask my friends at the table

"No." They all say

I get up and walk to the door. I open it. Only to see my father.

"Why are you here?" I ask

"Adena we need to talk." He said

"Can it wait I'm in the middle of dinner with my family." I say

"Family?" He asked

"My real family." I say

He looked past me and at the table where they where sat.

"Anyway, can we talk tomorrow?" He asked

"What about?" I ask

"Family... Business." He said

"Where?" I ask

"The cafe downtown." He said

Great Myles works there so I'll have someone there with me.

"Sounds good." I say

He stands there.

"Bye." I say

He walks away.

I shut the door and walk back to the table and eat.

"You know he is your dad... You didn't have to be that rude." Jackson said

"He practically killed my mother!" I shout

"He could have killed you too!" I say

"Adena, I know... But he's the only family you've got left." He said
