Chapter 85: Smoking Vengeance

After finishing the final report for the Schmidt case and emailing it to the station, Cassie started to peruse the real estate websites, looking for a new home. It concerned her that she placed Eryn and Ben in the middle of her drama and knowing Dillon's brother was gunning for revenge forced her to seek out immediate accommodation. She'd be damned before leading one more psycho out to Eryn's farm.

She loved her job, even though some days were insane. Mostly it was pretty low key or at least that's how it was before Dillon. His brother was every bit as sadistic, and he would come after her just as the 'wolf' had in her dream. She wasn't scared for herself, but she most definitely didn't want to put Eryn or Ben at risk.

The door to her office opened and Daniel walked in. "Karly and I are locking up for the night. Randy gave us the next couple of days off, so we get a long weekend. I understand you made him do it." He eyed her suspiciously, wondering if she was up to something.
