She Took That Responsibility

"Are we in a different position now?" Scarlet asked when as they write, Amethyst couldn't help but to stare at her.

She was doing the exact same thing yesterday but now they were actually in reverse.

Amethyst had been staring at her for a while now but she wasn't saying anything. And yet Scarlet could feel that she wanted to say something or ask her something.

"There is just one thing I am wondering," Amethyst finally voiced out after a few moments of pondering over it.

"What is it?" she asked with a smile, urging her to ask.

"Ms. Night has influenced so many people through her work. But… who was she?"

Amethyst didn't know how to reword it and this was the only way of questioning she could come up with.

Scarlet was first stunned by her question before she turned serious as Amethyst looked at her filled with curiosity.

It was obvious that she was genuinely asking the question she had just asked.

"I'll ask you this. Astral has influenced so many people as well. But who was she?"

Both Ms. Night and Astral had lived in secrecy.

Astral started off as a mysterious author before someone else took her identity while Ms. Night remained as a mysterious one up to date.

Amethyst went silent as she pondered over it then she raised her head to look at Scarlet, "I'm sorry, Astral was just a name for me."

She had written so many stories to get away from her reality.

Written most of them as just a past time while the others were written out of what she felt on that particular time.

The stories were the ones that she poured her everything into but the pen name she had been using was plainly just a name for her.

Just that, a pen name she used for her books.

Knowing that Ms. Night is important to Scarlet, she couldn't help but ask.

The two of them are different in this way.

What she cared the most was the stories being born while Scarlet cared not just for the stories but for the name that was beside these stories.

Scarlet seeing how, once again, genuine she was in her answer couldn't help but sigh, "I see."

"I'm sorry, I really am," Amethyst couldn't help but say seeing Scarlet sigh.

Scarlet wanted her to inherit the title Ms. Night but she herself does not know what a pen name's importance is.

"Don't apologize, not all of us has the same thought over things. We differ and that is why we have those silly fights that could have been avoided if just accepted the fact that we don't think alike," Scarlet held her hand and said.

She took a deep breath and looked at Amethyst seriously, "Astral may be a pen name to you, just a pen name. But Ms. Night is a life to me, because through her I was able to give life to so many stories that touched so many people's day to day life as well."

"I am not saying that Astral wasn't the same but Ms. Night for me is my other half, a twin sibling, that was with me all throughout the time I was writing those stories. I wasn't ready to show myself to the world and she took that responsibility," she continued.

"She took the front and received the compliments and rejections instead of me. The news would always have Ms. Night and not Scarlet Miller. She took the brunt of everything that I could still remain as me outside of my room where I write all the stories."

Amethyst watched her as he tells her side.

"That is the meaning of Ms. Night to me," she said with a smile.

"I never thought it was that deep, I always thought that Ms. Night just want to be mysterious. You know to also create a hype of its kind. But to hear you explain this to me now, I couldn't help but to be amazed and to adore you even more," Amethyst couldn't help but say with that genuineness in her eyes that allowed even Slate to let go in front of her.

A sob suddenly escaped Scarlet's lips after seeing the genuineness in Amethyst's eyes.

Amethyst was shock to see a tear dropped from her eyes.

"Wha- What's wrong?... Uhmmm…."

She stood up getting close to Scarlet.

But before she could say more, she was pulled yet to another hug, this time the one hugging her was the sister.

"Ah?"

"Now I know how you were able to affect him, there's no lies in your words or your actions. You are genuine to everything," she sobbed even more as she said this making Amethyst lost.

She could only pat her back as she allowed Scarlet to damp her shirt with her tears.

Slate came in seeing this and he could only look at Amethyst with furrowed brows. To which she smiled with uncertainty.

In reality, this was a shock to him.

From time to time, Scarlet would cry ever since she got sick but this was literally the very first time she had cried this way. Like that of a child who was finally complimented after so long.

And seeing how lost Amethyst was, he knew she didn't understand how she was able to make Scarlet cry.

'She has that kind of pull because of how genuine she is, that her words would pierce right through your heart without you realizing it,' he thought leaving the two of them alone.

"Have you decided?" Eduard asked her when she gave him a call.

"Nope, not yet. I'll decide when the time comes. For now, I want to stay with her, with Scarlet Miller and with Ms. Night. I want to spend more time with her and get to know her even more," was the answer she came up with.

And no matter how long, as long as Scarlet still leaves her answer would remain the same. She wants to know her more as the two side of the coin and not just as Scarlet who wants to write.

But the identity that covers her up from everything the world was throwing at her.

After that call, she started searching more and more about Ms. Night.

She wanted to understand it more, what Scarlet meant and why she regards her pen name as such.

"What are you doing?" Scarlet came out of her room and asked.

Amethyst didn't look up, "I'm researching about Ms. Night."

"Why are you so curious about her?" Scarlet couldn't help but ask.

"I had been curious about it for a while now, I just didn't voice it out," she replied.

Because that was the truth, she had been hearing the way Scarlet spoke about her pen name but didn't voice out anything. Only now that Eduard had said such words did she have the courage to actually ask.

"Hmmm, come to think of it. I seem to have noticed that, how you were holding back at times despite the fact that I can clearly feel that you want to ask something," Scarlet thought for a bit before saying.

"It is because I don't know how to ask it. I am not used to being curious about people remember?" Amethyst replied looking up at her.

"I'm happy though, you are starting to know how to properly interact," Scarlet replied.

"I know how to interact," she instantly rebuked making Scarlet laugh.

"Yes, but the way you interact is the same way as you do towards your customers," she argued.

Amethyst wanted to say more but as she started, Scarlet suddenly held her head before she suddenly slumped on her wheel chair.

Amethyst abruptly stood up and rushed to her.

"Scarlet!! Scarlet!!!"

I wonder if you noticed teh difference in the way she interacted with Scarlet and Slate when they cried... Comment what you noticed... ^_^
